SEO experts - need help

I have a mainstream website related with a mainstream business, I'm not a SEO guru but I did some homework, and I could get some 1st places on google for some keywords.

Now, I realize that for that business there are several important keyword domain names available.
Note that some of those domain names are keyword that I couldn't make 1st places with the main website.

So what's the smart move to do these days ?

Build a independent website for each keyword domain names ?

Somehow redirect to the main website ?

Sugestions please

Best result would be to build a individual site for each keyword domain name. If the keywords are big enough that is.

Keywords in the domain for pretty much irrelevant... :2 cents:

they are very relevant for phrases without much competition. i mean... for searches that get 100 searches or less a day, they matter a lot.

Not sure about that, sounds like a pretty lame strategy to buy separate domains so you can target 100 searches per day keywords :error but if it works for you, great :thumbsup

i didn't say - go out and register 100 domains for 3k searches a month or "hey here's what you should do". and "lame" or not depends on what your strategy is. if you are building up networks for linking power, its a no brainer to register keyword domains that target a specific phrase with low competition, if they are available.

It's important to have quality related pages linking back to your own page, thus giving you some link juice.

The all the keywords pertain to the same product then you should have multiple pages of the site. 1 key phrase to a page.

pimpware 05-15-2009 12:24 AM

Those domain names I was talking about are very important keywords, not 100 keywords, maybe not more than 3 or 5, because they are so important and so related with the busines type that keywords are very dificult get 1st places because there's a lot of competitors fighting for the same.

But as I said, those same important keywords are available as domain names.

So I buy one of those domain name and do what :

- build a independent website ?

- redirect it to the related page inside mainpage ?

- build a small independent website and add a link to the mainpage ?

- more ?

Keywords are still very relevant for Yahoo and MSN ranking, not so much at all for Google, unless the phrase is really obscure.

I have been doing okay with buying a domain that covers a broad keyword for whatever niche. Then making pages - as part of the larger site - that target more specific keywords.

domains with keywords *do* make a difference in my experience.

I prefer using lockwords.
