FTC sues auto warrantee calling companies!

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/FTC-su...-15247492.html

Now the question is how long until they stop calling me?

$hurik 05-14-2009 11:56 AM

My fucking god.... These guys call me at least four or five times a week. I've even told them that I don't own a car or that I was in a huge car accident and lost my legs, and yet they still call me.

Fuckers. Rot in hell.

Yeah, I am not sure why this is still legal. It is the same as spam but more aggressive and obtrusive IMHO.

It's worse than spam.

Imagine if someone called you and told you that your insurance is about to expire and if you don't pay them right now than your coverage cancels and reverts to a higher price, or something similar. Scams like this can easily take advantage of someone...

hypedough 05-14-2009 12:05 PM

Finally! I get at least 2 calls a day at home and on the cell for this shit.

especially older people. hell the first time i got the call i thought it might be legit since i have a warrenty for the car i bought a couple years ago.

pornguy 05-14-2009 12:06 PM

They suck major ass.

Deej 05-14-2009 12:06 PM

I just seen a bit on these companies on the today show a week or so back.

Not only are they annoying, but extremely fraudulent!

Apparently the employees are trained to lie to the customer and entice them into buying their shit when in fact their "warranty" dosnt cover shit let alone stand up to the factory warranty.

Something about the owner of the company building his brand new 10 million dollar estate while refusing to comment on the ethics of his business.

I have a similar situation. I bought my vehicle a year ago and I thought it might have made sense. Until the lady on the other end basically started yelling at me, LOL.

Amen to dat shit nig.

I canceled that shit on my truck, was refunded $4000.00. Since then, I have been receiving a letter a week, and at least 3 phone calls minimum about it for 2 years! All automatons.

:disgust

Sig.

Honez 05-14-2009 12:14 PM

We started getting the phone calls a couple of years ago after buying a car. When the person on the other end could not tell me what kind of car I just bought, I smelled something fishy and told them I would call the dealership that sold me the warranty to find out what was up. They hung up on me.

Hooray that someone is finally doing something.

Mr Pheer 05-14-2009 12:16 PM

My phone hardly ever rings. Probably because whenever someone asks for my number, I tell them i dont have a phone... while they stare at the cell phone in my hand.

Sosa 05-14-2009 12:22 PM

about fucking time...

FightThisPatent 05-14-2009 12:25 PM

finally! just got another one of those calls this morning.

next, they should take on the calls that say you get a free gas card, etc because you are a credit card customer with card ending in XXXX

Fight the schemers!

Tom_PM 05-14-2009 01:35 PM

Another thing is when you say "hello?" and someone instantly tries to confirm who you are. I always say, I'm sorry but who are you please and why do you want to know who I am? They're usually stumped, it's pretty funny. But I wont continue with the call unless I know who's calling. Call me crazy.

It's sad really, people used to take pride in being polite.

Drake 05-14-2009 01:37 PM

Those calls annoy me to no end

I guess I'm lucky, really told the fuckers off last time they called, so the calls stopped:thumbsup

Phil 05-14-2009 01:43 PM

I don't even answer my home phone any more. This "do not call list" is worthless. i do get a lod of mail from those guys.

Choopa Phil 05-14-2009 01:43 PM

been getting calls non stop from them since i switched from verizon to ATT, pretty annoying but its fun to mess with them. especially if you tell them to tell you what kind of car you have, since theyre the ones who called you.

yys 05-14-2009 01:55 PM

I've been getting these car warranty calls on my cell in Canada for the past 6-8 months. I just play with them and waste their time; gives me a good chuckle.

I had anther telemarketer calling trying to sell me doors and windows. I told him my house doesn't have any doors or windows. He asked me how I got into my house and I told him "through a hole in the ground". Classic silence on the other end.

Got a call yesterday telling me I had offered to donate clothing and a pickup was scheduled for today. Told the lady she must be mistaken as "I don't wear clothes; I'm a full time nudist." She didn't know how to respond :1orglaugh

It does suck when your in the middle of something though.

gmr324 05-14-2009 03:38 PM

It's about time! Could these calls be any more lame!
My 17 year old son without a car is even getting these calls. That's some really targetted marketing!

collegeboobies 05-14-2009 03:59 PM

Snake Doctor 05-14-2009 04:24 PM

About time. Considering this is hella illegal since the do no call list and all of that became law.

Easton 05-14-2009 04:39 PM

excellent! i kept reporting them to DoNotCall each time

Do they call cell numbers too or just landlines?

Major (Tom) 05-14-2009 06:12 PM

I had to change my number twice because of these idiots.

Me either. I only have a cell but I have never ever gotten a call for this.

lacuna 05-14-2009 08:29 PM

the.drunk 05-14-2009 08:51 PM

Unscrupulous telemarketers won't honor the DNC list.... which is why the FTC can sue their asses into oblivion. Don't worry about it, and keep signing up your numbers into the Do Not Call registry. :2 cents:

PersianKitty 05-14-2009 09:48 PM

about time.

I haven't bothered to ever listen long enough to get the whole schpeel. First time they ever called the guy comes on the phone and says "this is about your automobile warranty, please hold on the line while I get your information"

I went.. "click"

cosis 05-14-2009 09:50 PM

I never get calls just fucking junk mail from them

pamon 05-14-2009 11:04 PM

spacedog 05-15-2009 08:02 AM

These fuckers have been calling me for a long time..

they call me at home, at my office AND on both of my cell phones.

What finally did them in for this lawsuit was that they annoyed a senator with multiple calls until he filed complaints.

abshard 05-15-2009 02:34 PM

Is this the same company that advertises all over tv, US Fidelis?

Yen_HerbalRevenue 05-15-2009 03:07 PM

I just started getting calls a month ago....

Sly 01-05-2010 01:56 PM

I am 95% sure they are at this again. I just got a phone call... same exact protocol... about my "credit cards." My banks don't play this sort of game so it wasn't them.

Tom_PM 01-05-2010 02:11 PM

"Rachel" (also Heather) from "Cardholder Services" is the most prolific and hard to trace or block phone spammers. Last I checked, they thought it originated in canada, but not sure. I had a blitz of them right around the last week of the year. There is no hope to be removed, just hanging up is about the best you can do.
