4 US citizens found strangled in Tijuana

becareful in mexico:helpme

The bodies of four U.S. citizens were found strangled, beaten and stabbed in a van in this border city, two days after they reportedly left their Southern California homes for a night at the Mexican clubs, U.S. officials said Thursday.

The victims, ages 19 to 23 years old, were found tied up on Saturday, but their deaths were not reported earlier because they were under investigation, said Fermin Gomez, an assistant state prosecutor in Baja California.

U.S. consular officials in Tijuana said the victims ? two men and two women from the San Diego and Chula Vista areas ? were U.S. citizens. The state attorney general's office in Baja California said one of the women was Mexican.

Their deaths are the latest in a string of violence in Tijuana that authorities blame on a bloody turf war between drug cartels.

"I just don't think kids should be going to Tijuana right now," Chula Vista police Lt. Scott Arsenault told the San Diego Union-Tribune. "They ran into the wrong people, obviously."

Bernard Gonzales, a spokesman for the Chula Vista Police Department, said a friend told the women's parents they were headed to nightclubs in Tijuana on Thursday night. They were reported missing the next day when they did not answer their cell phones.

Mexico on ban list for life

TheDoc 05-15-2009 05:05 AM

I wonder how many Americans were killed/murdered/raped/stabbed, etc last night, in America?

pornguy 05-15-2009 05:19 AM

If that happened to them then there is more to the story. A LOT more.

I wish people would stop acting like 19+ year olds are "kids"

a 23 year old is not a "kid" - these are adults, they can go where they want, not to mention any 19 year old going to TJ is doing so to illegally drink and/or run drugs back. I knew too many who did it to be stupid to not think so.

I was on my own paying my own bills younger than 20, if these are kids, I must be elderly

So what that shit has been going on forever, when I was in the Marines say 96 or so, a few guys got gangraped from mexican gangs, a couple cut to death... all par for the course, Tijuana is great as long as you always travel around in packs of 8

:2 cents: - I don't watch the news for this same reason, 'cause who really cares? We don't get the whole story about what these 4 people did to have this happen to them.. just an "oh they went to the club and got kidnapped", probably bullshit, why THESE 4 people?

mineistaken 05-15-2009 07:47 AM

sad news

Sly 05-15-2009 10:04 AM

I'm with everyone else... typically the cartels only take out people for a reason. Other people in the game, etc. Just a couple college students looking for a good time? Not really.

you got a point, but think of how many Americans were in America, and how many were in Mexico...the ratio would be way fucked up.
Northern Mexico is a mess, and that mess spills over into the southwest US. There have been a rash of kidnappings and murders in the Phoenix and Tucson areas that have been linked to the drug cartels

Yen_HerbalRevenue 05-15-2009 10:21 AM

I think I must agree, this wasn't a quick kill, an accident that these four just happen to be in the wrong spot at the wrong time.

GlobalCorp 05-15-2009 10:21 AM

A U.S. Citizen is priceless (even the bad ones). Very angry

Pleasurepays 05-15-2009 10:22 AM

but god forbid we increase border security for a failed narco state at our front door... we cant do that.. because that's racist.

It's not racist, it's a violation of the treaty/acts between our Countries...

If we look at the violent crime rates between the Countries, America wins!

I don't think the murders in Tucson have been linked to the drug cartels, at least the news doesn't seem to be pushing that, even the right radio doesn't down here.

Some have been connected to the Mexican gangs. But they aren't connected to the Mexican drug cartels. I'm sure some are... but overall the murders around here are as stupid as the guy getting capped in the van setting up the police radar. Some old man did it...

Honestly, if the news never said Mexico, I would forget it was 30 minutes away.

LeRoy 05-15-2009 10:38 AM

I love to surf down there. I've been fucked with a few times. Even had all my shit stolen while I slept on the beach one time.

But I'll still go down there for good waves and cheap Coronas.

Roby 05-15-2009 10:40 AM

I left the last playboy mansion party at 12pm......drunk.

I arrived at the mexican border (via $300 cab ride) at 3:45am or 4:15am.

I was alone & i crossed the border by myself via the turn-gate thingys.

The only thing that saved me.....was probably the guys standing on the other side (in the shadows) thought i was a police-string/setup or something :1orglaugh

Yeah, Mexico is off my list of places to visit which is a damn same since I went there every year since 2000. It was always dangerous - You never knew when you could be shaken down and law enforcement was spotty at best. Now, forget it.

I think you should read your statement again... You asked a question, answered it, then questioned/argued yourself... Kinda freaky really.

Alot, but that is besides the point. Mexico is very very risky.

It amazes me how Americans can be "scared" of other countries. It's almost like they think they live in a safe country or something

Maybe the rest of the world should stop visiting America?

If I was Australia, Canada, Germany or eve Saudi Arabia I would avoid America... % of chance wise, International people have a higher probability of being murdered in America than Americans would visiting Mexico, over the current dangers we already have.

Oh yeah, and please do not visit Washington D.C. The 2nd murder capital of the world.. Or New Orleans #3 ... And totally skip EVERY part of the Caribbean, it has one of the highest regions of murders in the world.

Colombia: 0.617847 per 1,000 people
South Africa
Jamaica: 0.324196 per 1,000 people (damn no more Jamaica either)
Venezuela
Russia
#6 Mexico: 0.130213 per 1,000 people
Estonia
Latvia
Lithuania
Belarus
Ukraine
Papua New Guinea
Kyrgyzstan
Thailand
Moldova
Zimbabwe
Seychelles
Zambia
Costa Rica
Poland
Georgia
Uruguay
Bulgaria
#24 United States: 0.042802 per 1,000 people

Lets look at some other Countries.

#43 Australia: 0.0150324 per 1,000 people
#44 Canada: 0.0149063 per 1,000 people
#49 Germany: 0.0116461 per 1,000 people
#61 Saudi Arabia: 0.00397456 per 1,000 people
