domain market is dead

hey people, nobody is now building brand on domain names ... do you see it? domain market is dead, there is no more money in tubes and other crappy words, there is no future in domains, its about brand, not about keywords, but i am on the bridge again :)

onwebcam 05-15-2009 10:11 PM

hmm I sold 3 today. Alive and kickin.

DaddyHalbucks 05-15-2009 10:12 PM

All industries have their ups and downs. If you have no overall strategy, it is mostly downs.

Shoplifter 05-15-2009 10:17 PM

I'm buying domains every day.

Agent 488 05-15-2009 10:17 PM

thanks for the insight.

LiveDose 05-15-2009 10:19 PM

Thanks for the laughs...

Definitely not dead, but probably not a good time to sell. I just can't stand the sellers who dramatically overvalue their domains. I offered $2500 for one day, after a lot of research I thought it was a very fair offer and I was willing to give him what he wanted within reason. He counters for 26,000, not worth my time to even counter at that point.

That is most likely a domain he does not want to part with. At least he wrote back.

The flip side are the emails I get that say 'hey I noticed -----.com is just parked and you're not using it. I was wondering if I could have it. Thanks I look forward to hearing from you'.

Yeah I could understand if he wasn't that eager to sell and was holding out, but he's got it up for sale on 5 different sites so it sure he appears he wants to move it. I just find it highly coincidental that his offer was the exact amount it appraises for at Estibot.

Just like when you said that review sites are dead. Sure, I'll believe you in this instance, too </sarcasm> Sorry bro just lighten up not everything is going to shit.

cam_girls 05-16-2009 12:39 AM

decent domains are a limited resource

the reseller market has almost dried up but you can always approach the owners
with a big enough offer

FilthyRob 05-16-2009 01:34 AM

wow that sucks

d-null 05-16-2009 01:43 AM

one area that should be more active is in the lower priced actual webmasters buying domains to develop.... it seems like the average webmaster is so cheap that they would rather settle on registering (and spending hours trying to find a half acceptable name to register) their own inferior name for $8 and then pouring hours of work into it, rather than purchasing a much better domain in the $xxx range :2 cents:

I sold one this month for over 100k. Most of what's really happening in the big domain sales is behind the public eye...

:thumbsup congrats on the purchase.

Established domainers and webmasters are still doing good sales, its just that many of the better deals are done behind closed doors .

What? Review sites are dead?

swordfih 05-16-2009 06:33 PM

I don't think it is, just a bit quiet. You'll not see obvious trades but if you are watching a number of domains you'll notice movement :pimp
