Higher End Camcorder
Who's recently purchased a new one, and what has been your experience? HD? Disk or tape? Fire wire? Good and bad?
I am looking at some new gear, and kicking around options. I have an older Canon which I have done well with. Today's camcorders, a lot of them, have so many bells and whistles I simply will not use that it muddies the water. Fire away. :helpme |
Fuck you barefootsies, no answers for you!!!!

I have a few cannon GL1 XL1 the Sony PC100 and this really nice mini HD from sanyo that believe it or not kicks ass !!!! no video tape straight up digital on a memory card small little guy that I like the best for shooting clips content. Its all in the lighting and the artistic and steady hand of the shooter. I found the smaller the camera the closer and more involved I can get in what I am shooting its like an extention of myself bringing my fans into what I want them to see using odd angles and close ups.... I love the simplicity of the new HD cameras there small easy to use and do a great job if you know how to deal with and work through shadows and light. But then again I like a camera that I can shoot with thats easy that lets me have some cute feet in my mouth at the same time of filming kind of hard with a big XL1 ...lol.....

Consumer or Pro?
Sony makes seme great consumer HD models. |
I have a Canon Vixia HV30 and it's probably the nicest piece of equipment I have ever purchased. It was recommended to me by a guy that shoots on-scene video for a local HD News station (WCNC).
Here are some example videos that were shot with the hv30. http://vimeo.com/channels/search:canon%20hv30 |

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...efinition.html I don't have any complaints, but I'm mostly just using it for personal stuff, not business. |
Last week my Canon Vixia HG21 got here.
I have not had enough time to mess with it to tell you if I like it or not. |
Thanks dudes. Keep em coming.
