FUCK! I can't edit text on my fucking computer anymore.

Mac OSX panther. All of a sudden my text editor stopped working. I got a message last night bout no longer being able to save files in a certain encoding (which I didn't really pay attention to) and then all my html files started showing up garbled. Tried to edit in Word and save as text only with an html extension. Didn't work. Tried downloading a new text editor. Didn't work. Tried editing ONLINE. Could save ANY of the files. I would reopen them and the text would be fucking gone. Tried editing already existing files AND THEY GORT ALL FUCKED UP TOO. Tried rebooting and that didn't fucking work either.

HELP! I need to be able to do this to make a living and don't have the $$ for a new computer if that's what I need. Can't reinstall either because I sold all my software when I was sick in the hospital.

I beg to differ. Only retards who try and follow the crowd, and those who do not like to think for themselves, buy and use Windows operating systems.

Anyways, have you tried repairing disk permissions?

Why did I think I would get a serious reply on a board names go fuck yourself?

In any event, I can now edit on line and once I save it, I can reopen the file and edit it in my text editor. So game not over , at least yet.

Panther??!!!

Your operating system is over four years old. There are TWO new versions of OS X out.

It's probably some simple setting, maybe try calling apple tech support, they would probably know best..

You should upgrade to Tiger 4.1.1. at least and add all security updates. Did you run any hd tester for possible issues? If you do a utility search, check first if they work with panther. Can you boot from your installer cd?

if you are done with it, give a try to textwranger. http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/11009
