Weird Stats/Referral Log Question
 

I see stuff like this on my logs all the time, but I never know what it means.

Today I was checking the stats on one of my sites: http://www.CandiCurves.com, and I noticed over 23,000 hits on my referral logs from this address...

Any idea why shit like this happens? Why would that address redirect hits to my site?

Again, this happens a lot, but it makes no sense to me. There are no links to my site on that page.

No increase in sales or bandwidth when this happens either.

Any ideas?

Some kind of hotlinking issue but that is strange too that they would hotlink a image or something from your site. Unless maybe they have a forum or something in their members area and someone hotlinked from your site there.

Maybe, but why would anyone link to an outside site from within a members area, and with over 23K hits coming in on a single day, why no uptick in anything else (ie page views, bandwidth, sales, etc.). Any other ideas?

Post the actual log entry and then it will be more clear whats happening...

they have linked candi in their members area and they are linking eg banner from your server, that is lame yeah :) anyway 23k users in members area in one day doesnt looks so real :2 cents:

When I check my site's logs/stats, whatever - there is a listing of the site's top referrers, and that link was on that site's list of referring URLs. Not sure what additional info you are requesting?

One day back in January one of my sites received over 4,000 hits from this address...
