T minus 8 days before I go under knife again.
Hate these countdowns. I know I report for surgery at 6am on the 28th and get to stop eating and drinking at midnight of the 27th. Also have to deal with several appointments on the 27th hopping back and forth between St. Mary's and UCSF from like 9am to 3pm with a wonderful four different appointments. Yippee!
In the meantime I am going through each meal sort of as a top 10 or something. I do not want to waste many of them since I know there will be at least two days without food minimum and then many more days with possibly very bad food. Then of course aside from lining up everything business wise. Paying all sorts of bills so there are no issues while away. Making sure everything can run smoothly while gone, yet having someone monitoring things whom can step in and fix an issue in case I am temporarily out of commission. Tomorrow I also reassemble my hospital food kit (yes I like food). Have to make sure my small containers of additions are all full. Such things as pepper, salt, hot sauce, worcestershire, garlic powder, chili flakes, etc. It is a tiny little spice/condiment kit that requires no refrigeration and can spice up those bland hospital dishes. It really is a life saver. Latter on in the day I also need to get my laptop seen by yet another specialized electrician so I can get that little sticker that allows my computer to be used in most of the hospital. Without it they can technically take it away to make someone bring it home since it can be a danger. Well thats my dear diary post for the month or whatever. Also alerting people that I will be sort of MIA from about the 26th through the end of the month or so. |
Wishing you the best experience possible, and as much of an expedient recovery as is possible.

Actually was very surprised to not see a poo comment. So used to them once I see your avatar. |
Sending thoughts, prayers, and good wishes to you David. Hospital stays are not fun nor conducive to rest. I hope this one passes swiftly and you'll be back home and recuperating in no time.
Hugs to Julia. xo |
Good luck and hope all goes well. :)
Claire XXXX ps..will you be attending any shows this year ? |
All the best and wish you a very speedy recovery after your op

If all goes well, perhaps some towards the fall/winter. Assuming there is a solid reason to attend. Come to think of it the only show that I can think of that has much interest for myself and seeing a certain return would be the Atlanta forum. |
All the best ASM!

I am fairly certain it will at very least a 7-10 day stay. Technically there are two operations. One on the 28th and then one 4-5 days latter. Then a few days sitting around and they release me - until it is time for my next planned one. I just wish they would admit me on the 27th instead of me having to get up at the buttcrack of dawn to travel across San Francisco to check in at 6am. Yuck! Quote:

What is the surgery for? |
All the best and don't make the nurses too jealous of your food kit. Know you, I am sure it is better than most of them eat all day :)
|
Good luck with this and fast recovery :)
|
Best of luck and luck recovery
|
good luck to you !!!
|
Good luck ASM. I'm also having surgery on the 28th, but a very minor procedure.
Never been under sedation though, how does it feel? |

As cyberhustler says below it is the waking up that sucks. For one you will be super fucking cold. They keep OR's super chilled. It really helps the doctors as they are covered in clothes and masks. You also will be very groggy and disorientated. You will also notice that your throat hurts (amount varies). That is typically from the breathing tube they give you and it will go away in a few hours to a day. You will also awake in a special area and be monitored for an hour or so before you get to a room. Expect people to bug you often. Lastly you will still be tired and drugged some. Do your best to relax and not sit up or such. Oh and depending on the time and such you may feel a very strong desire to urinate. However do not be surprised if you have a cathetor (know I spelled that wrong) in and that is what is causing that feeling. Whatever you do, do not yank on it. Quote:

Hmm I mean sedation, not general anesthesia.
I think it can be consious sedation, or very light sleep... Im going home on same day (someone needs to pick me up though) so it can't be general anhesthesia.. |
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sedation
Sedation is a medical procedure involving the administration of sedative drugs, generally to facilitate a medical procedure with local anaesthesia. |
Hope all goes well.

I guess you can never get use to surgery no matter how many you've had.
Good luck and hope all goes well for you. Though I think its funny you're more worried about the bland food then the surgery. Keep your mind off it I suppose. :x (a non homosexual kiss for luck) |
