Best OpenSource for Events website?

Sup All -

I know custom is the way to go, but this will be an experimental project for now.

For those familiar with opensource or reasonably priced software what would be the best option to create a site like clubplanet.com or napkinnights.com

Thanks

Joomla or Drupal.

Joomla has a number of social networking plugins that are really nicely put together.

Drupal. MTVUK on it. But judging by your dismissal of Joomla I don't think you'll be happy with the stock download of Drupal.

You're not going to get anything out of the box with the features you're looking for (nothing opensource at least). You're going to have to combine plugins and creative template designs.

Hell I could probably make a napkinnights clone with Wordpress if given the time.

Appreciate that. Im almost to the point where I would buy a boxed script and modify it to do what I want.

So are you saying MTV.uk is running on Drupal?

JOOMLA is the best, if you want something custom like clubplanet hit me up, I can have my programmers do it for you. $1750, takes about 3 weeks.
