Twitter more popular than free porn: fact!

Some of the most popular free pornography Web sites have only a fraction of the unique visitors Twitter has, according to stats on Compete.com.

Sites, which we're not linking to for obvious reasons, such as RedTube, YouPorn, PornHub and PornoTube, each enjoy several million unique visitors per month (though we expect many share the same visitors). But in recent months, Twitter's traffic has exploded to the extent that it dwarfs these destinations.

In fact, three of these sites -- RedTube, YouPorn and PornHub -- collectively only make up 15 million unique visitors, which is still several million away from Twitter's 20+ million uniques, according to Compete.

FACT!

so people are not making sales because of twitter?

Scott McD 05-25-2009 11:26 AM

Twitter will be like MySpace. People will move on.

Free porn however....................

RayBonga 05-25-2009 11:31 AM

why is this surprising? contrary to what some thing not everyone is online for porn

I would assume that in a couple of months, people will get tired of texting "I just farted and it stinks" to the entire world, and Twitter will be long forgotten.

the fact that there are sites bigger than free porn sites proves the decline of free porn sites.

Twitter has a PR9... Just checked crazy!

Not sure what that article proves. Of course, a popular mainstream destination will always have more traffic than a popular porn destination.

That's like saying the new Batman DVD outsold the latest porn DVD, of course it did.

But it's not like people have stopped watching free porn or ever will.

These idiots that write articles like this seem to think it's a binary argument. Facebook has more traffic than free porn sites so that means people are watching less porn. It's false reasoning. People are spending more total time on-line so they are watching just as much free porn, but they are also updating their facebook pages and using twitter.

I'll bet my house that more porn is being watched today than at any other time in history and by a much wider audience. Women, 13 year olds, old men, are all watching porn on a regular basis because of tube sites. Not saying that's a good thing, but that's the reality.

Twitter = 1 site. If you want twitter there is only 1 place to go for it.
porn = many sites. If you want porn there are many different options. If the wanted to be very accurate they would find out how much traffic all porn sites combined get every day and compare that to twitter.
