So you think you've got great content? Prove it with pay-per-minute billing!
Working in the adult industry, many of us have access to porn in abundance and some of us have no doubt become anesthetised to its intrinsic allure. But at one stage we were all newbies, embarking on our adventure to seek out the forbidden fruits that the internet had to offer for the very first time...
If you cast your mind back to that watershed moment, you will recall that when you seeked out and found the content that floated your particular boat, it was an immersive experience : the minutes just seemed to race by and, hey, before you knew it, a brief five minute sneak peak morphed into an hour or more of digital titillation. Time really does fly when you're having a good time!:winkwink: Perhaps the tours you were visiting were enough and you got your kicks for free. Or maybe they had done what they were designed to do: they sold you on signing up, so that you could enjoy your chosen content in abundance. But when you saw your very first join page inviting you to whip out your credit card and pay $29.90 a month for the privilege, were you really thinking that far ahead at the time? If, like me, you are just your average red-blooded male, chances are it was your penis that was doing the thinking for you at the time: my experience is that if there is a battle of wills playing out between a man's brain and his penis, it is the latter invariably wins.:1orglaugh Particularly during these recessionary times and with all that free porn out there, most men's brains are telling their owners not to commit to a monthly subscription and to save their money for more noble pursuits, such as feeding their family. But their trusted one-eyed trouser snakes want to see that content NOW! And we all know who will win that particular argument... The good news is, by paying for the desired content on a per-minute basis, they are able to satisfy both.:) If a surfer pays you this way, the time that they spend in your members' area speaks volumes: clearly, there is a direct correlation between the stickiness of your content and the time that the surfer will hang around to enjoy it: an average 'hold time' of less than two minutes says it all: your content sucks. Conversely, if your average is say eight minutes, not only are surfers having a good time, but more importantly all those minutes are equating to cold hard cash. To the math : Let's say that a surfer from UK decided to pay you this way, your content rocks, and that he ended up sticking around for eight minutes. In the case of the UK, the surfer pays £1.50/Min., irrespective of the phone processor you choose to work with, and the money is collected by the phone companies with whom they have interconnect agreements. But the outpayments from the main billing companies vary enormously, and currently range from $7.04 to $10.20, a hefty 44% difference to your bottom line. For some markets, the difference can be more than double! As you can see, two such visits in any given month from a UK surfer roughly equates to what you would have gotten if you had sold him a monthly subscription by credit or debit card. And whilst phone billing is not recurring, if your content is compelling enough, chances are good that the surfer will come back again and pay you this way. To reward webmasters with such content, we pay a connection bonus if the surfer remains connected for two minutes or more - a first within the pay-per-call space. Nowadays, content really is king, and sorts out the wheat from the chaff: surfers are sick and tired of tubes crammed with LA factory vanilla porn. But if you can deliver an experience worthy of repeat visits, per-minute phone billing will not only pay dividends both now and for years to come, but also serve as a useful accurate indicator as to the popularity of your content.:pimp |
