As of today I am **1 Year Smoke free**

After 13 years of smoking and 20 + failed attempts to quit. I've finally finished my first year of being a non-Smoker.

Some stats:
I have saved $1,753.82 Dollars by NOT smoking 4,385 cigarettes!

The trick to my success this time: Don't take that first puff.

To all those who want to quit. Keep trying!

Voodoo 05-27-2009 06:19 AM

hey man, i am about two and half week without smoking, and hope it will be at least half year ... but i know it will be not possible to stop smoking, if i will ever think about it ... so i dont remember date etc, cause its something i dont have in my memory, if you understand ... if you erase your smoking memory, its much easier to keep nicotine free longer time :winkwink: just wanted to say ... congrats! :thumbsup

voa 05-27-2009 06:47 AM

Keep in mind that after 72 hours, there is no nicotine left in your system.. So the cravings are in your head :thumbsup

I quit in January 2003 (right before internext and I used patches, was "pretty easy" :2 cents:

Scott McD 05-27-2009 06:51 AM

420 05-27-2009 07:09 AM

How about a celebratory cigar?

I think I've actually saved more than that because I don't need to carry cash for smoke.

Cyber Fucker 05-27-2009 07:59 AM

Congrats! :)

martinsc 05-27-2009 08:04 AM

great :thumbsup. I'm only 8 months smoke free so far, right behind you ;-)

Rochard 05-27-2009 08:29 AM

I've quit for about a year too. I'm a social smoker, mostly at shows. I've also quit drinking, been two years now.

I don't feel this is an accomplishment. It was a choice.

GTS Mark 05-27-2009 08:41 AM

Congrats!

Denny 05-27-2009 08:52 AM

MaDalton 05-27-2009 08:53 AM

i think it's like 7 or 8 years for me now that i quit

and you're right: the trick is not to take that first puff

congrats!

NickPapageorgio 05-27-2009 08:53 AM

Fucking AWESOME man!! Keep it up! I smoked over 20 years...was smoking nearly 3 packs per day...I am into month #3 without nicotine and I don't fucking miss them!! I finally decided that I couldn't send another single dime to Philip Morris. You're 100% correct too. Don't take that first drag. Find support somewhere.

This site has been a huge help to me. Especially this:

http://whyquit.com/whyquit/BryanLeeCurtis.html

whyquit.com is a great site though for any of you guys/gals on the fence.

CCBill Paul 05-27-2009 09:07 AM

Congrats indeed! I'm almost at 12 months too! Never felt better.

Bryan G 05-27-2009 09:12 AM

alexchechs 05-27-2009 10:02 AM

Congrats man. I am a 20 year smoker and been on the patch a little over a week. I am hoping a year from now I will be making a similar post.

mn 05-27-2009 10:10 AM

TurboAngel 05-27-2009 10:30 AM

Keep trying! Sooner or later it will stick. I tied to quit many, many times. I would always start with the occasional drag, then sooner or later I would buy a pack.

Jago Webcams 05-27-2009 10:52 AM

grats man! I'm 17 months out myself :) chantix did the trick for me :thumbsup

LiveDose 05-27-2009 10:53 AM

Congrats man. Best decision you ever made.

DivaShane 05-27-2009 01:38 PM

That's awesome. I just quit about a month or so ago. I know how those first few weeks are. Congrats!

Angry Jew Cat - Banned for Life 05-27-2009 01:42 PM

I'm on day 9 of the most recent attempt. I went for about 5 months on the last serious attempt. Guess I just gotta stick with it this time.

JayDeeZee 05-27-2009 01:47 PM

One thing that really helped was the silly Quit-o-meter app on Facebook.

Every day I'd check how much money I saved and how many smokes I didn't have.

MetaMan 05-27-2009 01:50 PM

Not a better time to celebrate.... by having a smoke!

Kiwigirl 05-27-2009 03:44 PM

Huge congrats....I hope to be able to follow in your foot steps in the very near future as smoking is such a dirty habit. :)

SilentKnight 05-27-2009 03:52 PM

Sincere congrats. Be proud of your accomplishment. :thumbsup
