Any GFY people live in Chapel Hill/Cary area of North Carolina? Just curious what's it's like living there.

I lived in NC (Charlotte) for a number of years. It's very green. Overall a very nice place to live. Chapel Hill is more of a college town, lots of bars, college students etc, the triad area is nice in general, has steady growth. I haven't been there in over a year or so, so not sure what things are looking like right now. But I liked it. Your dollar will go a long way real estate wise in NC. You can get a lot of home for less than you would pay on the national average. Couple hours from the mountains, few hours to the beaches in NC & SC.

So yeah. I like it.

I'm just curious what's it like to live in the Bible Belt and be in adult on-line. Any opinion on that?

I live about 20 miles north of Charlotte (about 110 miles from Chapel Hill to the west-southwest)... I don't see why it would make a difference where you live if you are doing adult online... I don't have a sign in my window that says "PORN WEBMASTER INSIDE".

Doesn't matter where you live adult wise if you aren't "producing"

In more liberal and not so religious areas (i.e. San Francisco where I currently live) the questions of adult webmastering is not so sensitive as compared to other areas. So if I have children, and I moved to Chapel Hill, and I am at a dinner party and someone wants to know what I do for a living - what do I tell them? Will they freak out and spread the news throughout the school that Johny's dad is a pornographer? Or will they be chill and move on with their daily tasks? See my point :) Just curious what experiences folks have had living there, as related to the business.

I think for the most part people don't distinguish from producing or not. What they know is that you're in pornography business and thus have preconceived notions about you and your lifestyle.

I saw this thread for the last few hours and thought I'm sure I have nothing to add. Clicked it and lol... I have a house about 30 minutes from there.

Cary/Chapel Hill are different animals. Cary a.k.a. 'Containment Area For Relocating Yankees' is very nice but crowded now. Especially with mini vans and soccer Moms. Good if you have a family and kids. Chapel Hill has a lot of influence from the university system. Young people, culture, music scene. It is less developed in the sense of 'Truman Show' subdivisions. Both are nice areas but very different.

This area has changed a lot in 10 years. I never told people what I did when I first started coming here and had a place in NYC and a place in Raleigh. The bible freaks dominated the area. Now I pass by an Adam and Eve 5 minutes from my house and they actually have a huge headquarters 40 minutes from me (btw if you get a chance you should read about the owner. An incredible industry advocate). This whole area is a lot more progressive and built up from 10 years ago. Plus I have never seen an area that is so consistently groom and landscape. It is gorgeous here I must say.

In answer to your question I would not be as forth coming about the business to casual aquaintances here as I would in SF. Our friends basically know what I do but do my kids teachers and their playmates parents know? Nope.

I have girls ready to work down here but have held off on mass producing content in this area. I still have roots in NYC and Miami and keep up relations there for that reason.

On a side note the woman down here are very nice to look at!:upsidedow
