What is a hotlinking script?

A script to prevent hotlinking? A script to hotlink other people?

I sell you one for much money.

Code:

RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://(www\.)?website.com(/)?.*$    [NC]
RewriteRule .*\.(gif|jpg|jpeg|bmp)$ http://website.com [R,NC]

Now save all your pics as png.

Is there any way to add a linkback to hotlinked pics? So the image shows up but it's also a hyperlink.

That would be a no... you can't put a link inside of IMG src.

try one of rays products www.bettercgi.com

RazorSharpe 06-05-2009 09:43 AM

http://www.trafficguardian.com/index.html

that sounds better than using htacess, especially if you're looking to protect videos. added advantage of being able to monetize the traffic.

I was gonna buy it, but had no luck reaching the owners

Great, thanks everyone!

Are you looking to protect images only? mod_rewrite works for that.

Movie files can be a bit more difficult and require alternative methods.

digitaldivas 06-07-2009 12:09 AM

Yeah, it's for digitaldivasonline, my tgp actually, picleecher has been going apeshit over my review photos from my affiliates. Only looking to protect the pics and recover some of my bandwidth.

Indeed. Not that the simple .htaccess is perfect for images, either, as it can be easily
defeated and will be problematic for people with certain "personal privacy" or "firewall"
software, but for a TGP it'll probably do.
