Email the webmaster and ask nicely if he'll zip it up for you. :helpme

If you tried that on any of our paysites you would be detected and your username locked out until you explain what you are doing. :)

Why? The user paid for access to everything in the site. Limiting the amount of simultaneous downloads I can understand but locking them for grabbing everything is bullshit. Ever think the user might have limited time online but unlimited access to a computer?

I just find it funny how everyone expects the world for nothing. 15-20 years ago for $50 I'd could buy 2 porn VHS tapes or rent 15 movies. And the movies you could only keep for 24 hours.

Simple, it should be defined in the TOS of the site he signed up with.

or the tapes/dvds you could copy... which tons of people do every single day.
If I pay $50 bucks for a membership to everything in a site... that means exactly that. EVERYTHING. If downloading is not allowed, make it clear on the join page/TOS. Making it hard to download things is not the same as not allowing it.

If you want to limit accessibility, the time release content. It's not hard to do. Telling someone that they have unlimited access to the content of a site but then limiting them is akin to telling a restaurant customer that they can have their entree after being seated for 45 minutes and finishing their appetizer. They pay for a specific thing and are owed it when they order it.

Customer service is something that 99% of pay sites completely FAIL at.

tapes started to have copy protection on them. Also that was ILLEGAL to do.

Did he even read the TOS of the site? sory it's the SITE OWNER that determines what "access" means not you.

Obviously you've never actually ran a site.

Why not post the url of the site so we can read the TOS. Did he ever try to contact the owner of the site and ask before he came here and started bitching?

qxm 06-05-2009 11:50 PM

for some reason this thread made me wanna.... take a dump... I'll be back....lolz

JD 06-05-2009 11:51 PM

i'm not going to argue with you GatorB. Agree with me or not I don't really care. All i know is that when people pay for access to "5000+ videos of insert_perversion_here" they expect actual access to it and the ability to download it.

When you get direcTV or DishNetwork you purchase access to everything but you sure can't record everything in a few days now can you? :)

They may offer 1000 shows a day but you can only record maybe 12 or so a day. If that.

Many ISP's offer unlimited Internet access but limit your bandwidth per day.

We may see maybe..... 1 in 500 people actually try to download an entire site in a day. I'll be happy to have the other 499 and dumb the 1. :) It's just common economic sense.

Hugs,
Danielle

Danielle 06-06-2009 12:33 AM

FYI: We always add that automated site downloaders are not allowed in the TOS. If a person just has a fast connection and is downloading like crazy he or she can download all they want.

If our software thinks you may be a site ripper the user is given a challenge. If they respond to the the challenge properly they continue as normal. If you don't answer the challenge then you get banned until you contact customer support.

Hugs,
Danielle

You are paying a RENTAL fee, not a you own all the content to keep fee. This is the fuckin reason our industry blows.

The old school adult bookstores had it right. You put in a quarter for your peep show, and when your time was up the curtain closed. Want more access? Enter another quarter. Once the idiocy of the pay a months fee and download and keep everything you want crap finally ends you'll see conversions go back to where they should be. But no everyone out there got greedy, played the "one up" game and now we are all fucked. :disgust

These two quotes do not add up. You're paying $50 a month but it's NOT a paysite? lol

Not wanting to argue or attack, but it sure sounds like you are wanting to rip a paysite. If that's the case, then just skip all this bullshit and go straight to the torrent sites. Someone somewhere has already ripped every site owned by every paysite owner on GFY and posted the whole thing for free for you. :)

No the reason our industry blows is because you guys are promoting products to a market who isn't hungry for it anymore. You're trying to sell ice cubes to Eskimos.

Ive been promoting sites for years but Ive never downloaded a site before.

You guys are really manic or something. I ask a technical question and instead of answering it you guys dream up scenarios of why Im asking it and looking for the back story.

No im not stealing shit. I paid a fee and I want to download everything so I can watch it on my computer at my leisure.
If you joined a diet site and it had 1000 videos on eating right exercising and recipes, would you want to download everything on your computer now, or would you want to continue paying a high monthly fee to access the content?

thank to the people who answered, im all set now :)

So true. So sad.

OrangeContent 06-06-2009 01:14 PM

On one side I agree with the fact that you should not join just to get all the videos and cancel, but on the other I agree with the surfer... if there are no limits why should he be limited?

Cap downloads and time release content are good limiters. Or just disable downloading? I'm not on anyone's side but what do you expect the surfer to delete the files they are downloading (even if they didn't rip the whole site)?

All valid questions, I guess the question is why aren't there downloading limits? If there aren't there should be no reason to complain, IMO only.

Hey dipshit what is the EXACT site you're wanting to download. Then I can go and read the TOS. It's really that simple. One would assume if they wanted you to rip the whole site they would make it pretty easy for you to do and thus you wouldn't have to be here asking how to do it. The fact they don't speaks volumes.

Well in a perfect world everything I ever wanted would be free and at my disposal whenever I wished. I don't live in that world and I adjust my expectations and actions accordingly.

It doesn't matter what YOU want. It's what you're entitled to visa vie your membership. If the TOS of that membership means you can download all those diet videos( as per your example ) then yes you could do just that. If not then you can't.

We all know that those questions are CRIMES and a completely different scenario. Downloading the content of a site against the site owners will after paying for access to it however is a TOS violation. A civil case at best.

But go ahead and go off the deep end again like you're prone to do. god damn psycho
