29 children die in Mexico day care center fire

None of them was older than five. That's really fucked up. A lot of my friends know someone related to some of the children who died. Really really sad. Children shouldn't die. :(

One can't know the exact numbers. 500,000 was the widely reported figure even 2 years ago. Dennis Halliday, the just resigned United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator said "we are losing 6,000 to 7,000 children a month, dying every month, as a consequence of the sanctions (New York Times 1/3/99). The Washington Post according to a recent Pat Buchanan column reports a minimum of 250,000. John McLaughlin on NBC news reported up to 700,000, based on the earlier number + current monthly totals. And that was before the last American bombing which included the refinery in the South with provided gasoline and lubricants for local industry which means fewer jobs. One shouldn't forget in this context Washington's bombing of the main antibiotics factory in the famine raged Sudan. We have no numbers on the new numbers of children dying there.

My post was to say, yes many children die daily, never to say "those 29 dont matter" You are just trying to put words in my mouth and distort this into bickering.

As someone who has tried to promote peaceful and natural existence without even killing animals, or eating them... everytime little ones die we should do what we can to spread the word that MANY children die every day and we CAN make a difference.

Until then, we are just watching a terrible story being written and we are the players in this horrible game.

Seems to me it shows people only care about what they can see. 29 die here, 500,000 there but everyone cares about the 29 because it's "real". Sad.

...and if he really does exist, he's sure running a very sick experiment! This is a truly horrible thing to have happen! May they rest in peace and may their parents have the strength to continue. Peace to all those little angels!
