If had to start from scratch again today I would...

Let's say you've lost all your cash through misfortune or through celebrating too much spending it on hookers, booze and random worthless shit. You woke up this morning realizing that all your servers were canceled due to non-payment. You have to start all over again. How would you start rebuilding? (no it's not the story of my life)

AssPirate 06-08-2009 07:23 AM

i would play my remaining cash on online casinos.

DollarKing 06-08-2009 09:13 AM

Start mugging some rich people.

How do you work online if you cant afford a hosting account?

anyways... Id get my video camera and create an amateur niche site on a bizarre topic that doesn't have lots of competition and find the cheapest attention whore models I could find and just film as much as I could. Id stamp my domain name on all pics and videos, submit them everywhere, tubes, tgps, avs, free sites, review sites, everywhere. No site is too small.

Or I'd find a seriously slutty attention seeking female who will do anything on camera and build a site with her on a partnership basis, so it costs $0 to film her fucking everyone and everything. We'd have 30 exclusive videos in no time and spread clips of her around the internet with the domain name on everything and business would come in.

The only "secret" is to WORK. it doesnt matter what you do as long as you work consistently on Something, it will work eventually

If I had to start from scratch again today I would be fucked.

Hmm, depends. If I'd have spent all my money on hookers, and woke up so drunk that I can't remember anything about this biz, or Server management, or programming, etc. then I'd get a real job.
If I'd still have my knowlege I'd just do the same as i'm doing now. but considering I'm out of money I'd apply for an online job, cause it's unlikely that just knowlege put's enough money on the table to pay my dinner today :)

Hosting can be free. Some programs are willing to supply web space if you promote their shit exclusively on it.

If you talk about just plain internet access: max 5 minutes of war driving in a medium city gives you always a couple of free unprotected access points. :winkwink:

Anyway, the rest of your answer made a lot of sense. Interesting strategy.

seeandsee 06-09-2009 05:14 AM

something else

I'd probably learn how to be a plumber instead. They make more than 95% of people that post in here, including me, damn ripoff bastages LOL.

The hypothetical is too vague.

Saying you lost all your cash - does this mean you still have possessions (property, vehicles, stock investments, etc.)? Or are you literally living under a bridge communing with nature?

Would you still own your original content (or was that sold to pay for more hookers and blow?)

I'd likely borrow funds from relatives, keep working on producing new content, rebuild the sites and continue marketing it all.

Right now I wouldn't do anything that I did in the 90's to get where I am today. Everything is different now. If I started today it would be cam, cam, cam No TGP's, no freesites, no paysite, not even a tube.
Just cams. So I guess I wouldn't even really be in the porn biz, but just vaguely in the "adult" biz if I started all over today.

CurrentlySober 06-10-2009 04:35 AM

I would stick things up my bottom, then spend all day posting... 'I Like Poo' on GFY...

u-Bob 06-10-2009 04:59 AM

I voted :)

Alright, lets put more drama into the mix:
  • you no longer have access large sums of cash; stocks; gold or whatever has value (let's put the max on $1000 in your present bank account to pay for daily essentials);
  • you only have basics like a roof above your head, a little to eat, electricity, water, broadband internet;
  • your family banned you, because they disgust that you work(ed) in the porn bizz;
  • your friends left you because they disgust you that you don't have any money anymore that they can profit from;
  • of course you still have all the knowledge gained in (adult) internet marketing over the past years.

Is that a more vivid picture for the SilentKNight? :winkwink:

By the way I should have added to the last option "Something else - please explain", cause those 10+ people that chose this answer made me curious.

Every day is a new opportunity to change things and start anew. I could see if maybe this was a poll of "If I could go back in time I would..", but I don't see any reason why anyone can't start something fresh and different today?
