"sorry for the wait, my system/computer is slow..."

I swear this is being the norm when I call some place. Almost every operator says their system or computer is slow. Is it true and the companies are just not replacing machines or are they just in denial that their computer/system really used to be faster?

Both places I called today apologized for the hold and explained that their system is slow. Every time I call BofA they say the same thing.

Is it just me, or am I being paranoid:upsidedow

I found it to be very helpful to beat up your keyboard and swear a lot while you ask the person closest to you why the fuck your computer is hanging up like that

No shit. I just updated some of my insurance policies and I was sitting there watching her work on her comp and it was loading slower than fucking death. It was like pulling teeth.

I get this almost everywhere I go and have for years. I am about to think I bring in a bad electricity and it shuts all their shit down when I walk in the door. lol

Seriously, example.... I can walk in the bank and 5 people ahead of me get in and out without issue, but the instant I get up there, about 75% of the time, their system goes bonkers and either slows way down or stops completely.

The worst was when I went to get groceries at Wal-Mart and their network went down and I couldn't pay for my damn groceries because all I had on me was my debit card..... so I had to stand there for 15 minutes to wait for it to come back up. lol

I am so glad I am not the only jinx on computers around. :thumbsup:1orglaugh

Years and years ago I worked for a telecom company. The computer itself wasn't slow, they were all new. It was the system/database they used ON the computer and that is normally the issue. The database is slow or something. It's not the PC itself. I mean hell you can run most of the vb programs companies use on P75s even to today. It's the central system that is always junk.

My bet is that it's the flunkies who are just there to grab a paycheck and not look so bad as to get fired that are the bottleneck. Like everywhere else.
Sure sometimes computers break. But they dont have "good days" and "bad days".

most of the time the employee on the other end of the phone is a dumbshit and doesnt know his way around the system so it takes them forever to look something up

My Internet went down the other night. I called the cable company.

"I'm sorry sir, our network is down right now so I can't help you. Please try again in two hours."

Terminal type applications are usually slow, especially to off site work at home morons.
