I ran out to the store to pick up a few things quick, like a total of 4 items and this older woman is trying to juggle a few things in her hand, so I ask her if she would like to go first.

She says thanks and jumps in front of me. When its her turn, she wants to write a check (who the hell writes checks anymore??) but worst part is, she writes the wrong amount and the store manager has to come over and verify it. Shes from out of town so they wont take the check that is for $11 to much. So now she has to go find something that will cost exactly $11 on her bill. The whole time im thinking why did i let this old bat in front of me.

Finally, after 5 minutes of picking up packs of gum and candy she is just over and pays the extra few cents in change. The guy starts to ring my stuff up and then I hear her yell "YOU DOUBLE CHARGED ME FOR THIS!!" and she is shaking a box of crackers at him. He now stops ringing me up and voids my sale then goes back and fixes hers. Now she is pissed because she over paid now has to find more crap to ring up. Instead, she calls for the manager.

This goes on for about 10 or so minutes. If i would of just be normal me, I would of been home by now, but instead, I get questioned by my gf about what took me so long.

This kinda shit happens to me all the time, so I decided recently to be a dick and so far its paying off. I went to Rita's (water ice) to get something last night and this fat woman tries to cut in front of my gf and I. I look at her and say "relax, im sure there will still be some left, now wait your turn."

Im going to mentally keep track of nice vs. dick bossku69 for the next few days and see where its gets me. Im not going to be intentionally rude, but if something comes up, im going to speak my mind. I think im waiting to much time with this kinda crap, letting people go first in line, letting people pull out first at an intersection who then drive below the speed limit, etc.

I got in line behind this old women with a shopping cart full of crap. I had one thing, she looked at me and said "that's all you got?" I said "yes" then she said "I feel bad for you I am going to take a long time" she sure was right... After they scan all her things she handed the cashier a stack of coupons. The cashier starts scanning all the coupons about half were expired or she didn't even purchase the product. Then the poor girl that worked there had to explain to her what the date was and what the dates were on the coupons, and look in all the bags to show her she did not purchase a roll of paper towels or had the wrong brand and blah blah.....

Finally they open another line and they lady goes "I can help the next person" I walk over this other old lady practically runs me over and cuts me off. I just freaking left.

i think that is just an excuse for people to be nicer to one another... just like when i was younger my parents would tell me if im not nice i wouldnt get anything from Santa. So I would be nice to everyone up until christmas, then if I didn't get what I wanted, I would be ever bigger of an asshole because of it :1orglaugh

your perception of reality is skewed because you live in Canada. Not that I think Canada>US, but from the time I was there, people seemed to be a lot nicer, at least IMO.

I went to a store to buy a drink, and the lady asked me if she wanted me to open it for me because I had my camera in my hand.

I love going to the store here and buying like 8 or 10 things and the grocery bag boy asking me "do you want a bag for this?" No fucktard, im going to take off my shirt and carry everything in it.

No, but there is more of a message in my post than what you've picked up on, obviously. It's not about being "nice", it's about being in less of a hurry all the time and instead take time to

a. look at things differently than just the one-dimensional way you're using now
and
b. learn to stop and enjoy the unfolding of someone having a public meltdown once in a while.


Maybe *your* perception of reality is skewed because you live in the US? Ever think of that?
