I hate when people look at stats like that.
They look at all the causes for deaths and then they say that *you* have a certain chance of something. But you won't die in a plane crash if you never get on the plane, you won't die from AIDS if you don't do certain things either...
so yeah cancer and drunk drivers are killing more people every year in the US than die from AIDS... not really a surprise, but the risk of AIDS, much more than cancer, depends directly on your lifestyle.

Yes to an extent. For instance if I go out and fuck a IV drug using Haitian gay male in the ass my chances go WAY up!
But as I posted in another thread...HIV is was overblown. I posted the stats that showed that IF you have UNPROTECTED vaginal sex you have only a 1 in FIVE MILLION chance of contracting HIV. And that includes women and men. If it were only men those odds would be even better because it's damn near impossible for a man to catch it from a woman unless he has open sores.
They also listed things that happen everyday that KILL people. Not just give them a treatable disease like HIV. For instance you have a 1:11,000 chance of committing suicide. 1 in 5 million to contract HIV with unprotected sex VS 1 in 11,000 of killing yourself. lol
I say live your life to the fullest and stop worrying about it so damn much. Yes it can happen. But the chances of you catching HIV by driving over to a girls house and fucking her bareback are infinitesimal, while the probability of you dying in a car accident on the way over are HUGE.
I'm not arguing that it isn't "preventable" Yeah, I could live my whole life and never get any pussy and my chances of catching it are zero. I could also never drink and cut my chances of alcoholism to zero. I could also never smoke and cut my chances of smoke induced lung cancer. And then I could never drive again and never worry about dying in a car wreck...
At some point you just have to LIVE and not just exist. People are brainwashed by the govt. into thinking they are going to catch AIDS and die if they get laid without "protection" (which I also posted the fact that a condom increases your safety by a factor of TEN 1:5,000,000 without one as opposed to 1:50,000,000 with one)
I know you say you don't think we should compare it to other things...well, why not? I could stop eating processed foods and stave off heart disease for instance. A lot of shit CAN be prevented. But you end up living a shitty life and never having any fun.
Just something to think about. Catching HIV isn't easy or common to do. There are almost 7 billion people in this world...and most of 'em die from heart disease mostly brought on by diet. But because of the psychological stigma of AIDS, as a nation we run around with a cigarette in one hand and a greasy burger in the other while wearing a rubber.
Everyone should just do what they feel comfortable with. If you think you should wear a condom then do so. :)
