Rhumatoid arthritis suffers - in here

Its somewhat common knowledge that my wife suffers from rhumatoid arthritis and is currently in remission with lupus. She was born with a juvenile form of it and has lived with it all her life.

She's on methotrexate injections, plaquinil and a couple of other strong medications to keep things managed as best as possible.

This Friday she's going in to have her ankles, knees and wrists drained by her specialist.

My question to everyone is - has anyone else had this done in the past and what to expect? She already knows its going to be rather painful...that's a given. But she's not sure if it'll take her completely out of commission for a period of time.

Any advice or experiences you care to relate would be greatly appreciated. :)

I started to suffer a couple of years ago from rheumatoid arthritis. Luckily nothing as radical as your girl.

A change in diet; bye bye pork, but added 2-3 glasses of red wine a day + Rumalaya forte ..an herbal mix from Malaysia ... Altogether is doing me much good.

Wishing you both the best.

PS:Did you try a good whipping...works wonders sometimes ;)

I'm sorry to hear about your wife's condition.

Both my mother and her mother (my grandmother) died in their 40's from Lupus. It's a very tragic disease.

There was encouraging news just in the past few days about a lupus treatment that is having some promising results.

Here are a few links:

If you go to Google and click on News at the top of the page, and then do a search on Lupus, there are dozens of articles about it.

I know you said that your wife is in remission for Lupus, but I thought it might be helpful to know anyway.

Good luck to you and your wife, and I send my best wishes to her.
