Backing up site
 

What is a good method to backup a site? Including all mysql updates aswell as the basic files.

Ask your host to do it for you, then download that file.

It has several advantages over asking your host to do a backup (and
hoping they get it right). Like what if you have an alphared type of
situation where your host disappears?

I can't tell you how to do it, but I know that you cannot simply copy your database, or expect that your host can do this by simply backing up your files. We had to write special scripts that would write flat files of your mysql files... something about open mysql files don't back up correctly.

What control panel are you using? Does it not have a backup feature?
