Facts About Maldives

Maldives population is predominantly Muslim and their islands are far too close to India and Sri Lanka where people shit into the sea and violence is off the hook. The first pre-requisit of a paradise would be that it's safe. This thread = FAIL

It's a beautiful place that has incredible surfing, fishing and scuba diving.

My dream vacation is to spend about a month on a boat riding around the Mentawais surfing the different breaks while living off my ocean catches and take pictures and video of the whole experience.

So far the only thing drifting is my dream :Oh crap

Its fantastic!! No words can describe it, but WTF is stopping you? I can understand if you live in a third world country, but if you don't have enough of cash for Maldives, go to Philippines its the one of the best diving places in the world for a fraction coast. Find a butler/guide before you made the trip, its very cheap to hire one, I can tell you more if you want...

To the naked eye, the signs of climate change are almost imperceptible, but government scientists fear the sea level is rising up to 0.9cm a year.

Since 80% of its 1,200 islands are no more than 1m above sea level, within 100 years the Maldives could become uninhabitable.

The number one priority of the trip would be surfing which is best in the Mentawais. Lots of charter boats rigged and available for just such a trip. What's holding me back. Time, money and finding the right group to share the experience with.

Well, you've got one long time surfer right here ready to jump in on a group. Would be incredible to surf there.

Ok I have to admit I dont know hows the "Mentawais" exactly, but like I told you Philippines are the place for you and me why not? Diving is most professional I have seen so far. And if you ask after the clear sea and beautiful sights you can't get wrong.

Try Fiji next time.
