what's a good video editor program?
 

We're looking for a good AVI, MPG video editor program. What's good these days?

I've gone through a bunch of them like Vegas, Canopus, Avid, Adobe, Final Cut and etc.. I still like Final Cut S2 on the mac.

Best, most intuitive and easiest to learn video editor out there. Too bad it's no longer supported and no new versions are planned since Corel bought Ulead :Oh crap

I'm a cheap, low-to-lower grade guy. I use VirtualDub.

vegas I would wait but for 9.0a to come out, as always the new version is buggy.

And then some,its sad Vegas doesnt get the respect it deserves in the mainstream world.

it does go to youtube type in vegas tutorial there are a zillion tips tricks step by steps put out by guys in mainstream

Ive seen them and you got tons of wedding, industrial video guys that use Vegas. What I meant is if a high end tv production house was looking a editor like say they do shows for the food channel or sitcoms. They want either final cut or avid, they wont give a vegas guy the time of day. Which is a shame I hang on the mainstream vegas boards and some guys are so talented. The only main stream show I know that actually had an ad looking for a vegas guy was the Dave Ramsey show on Fox.

oh that u are a million % right, part of it is the name too, vegas just sounds like a toy, the heads of companies hear vegas and it reminds him of getting fucked over in a casino or being robbed by a hooker.

now with masking and many other things you can turn out amazing stuff very quick

I went to a film editing class,it was an amazing weekend watched clips from over 30 films.Found out editing movies and editing porn are two very different beasts. The instructor starts ok lets go around the room and see who is using what NLE. There are ten people including me, 5 final cuts, 4 avids and me one vegas. They looked at me like I said movie maker. lol

to me its all about what gets the job done quick and quality, if it just so happens for my project movie maker will do and I can find a dedicated guy that knows just that so be it.

People with their egos are always busy throwing around what overkill crap they use, what high end cams and editing bays, who gives a shit your just pissing money away if its not 110% needed and limiting how many people and how much youll pay for employees
