The floodgates may have opened in Germany. France, Italy and Spain are probably going to be next. Once a few big countries get involved and set a precedent, there will be more to follow.

The US has been urging Spain to do the three strikes thing - even though they don't even have it in the US.

I just inquired and if people try to get around an ISP ban using a proxy server, ALL the data you download actually gets passed through the proxy.. It has to download it, then upload it to you.. Twice the bandwidth on their part.. And so there will be no free proxy servers just based on costs.. So then you're looking at huge paid proxy services popping up from hosting companies I imagine.

anyway rapidshare makes the file completely available so grokster ruling applys
the transaction they are support always has 1 infringement (sharing) even if the downloading is protected by fair use.

torrents however are different because you don't share a complete file
doesn't mean that the transaction is always non infringing just that it can be.

by any unbiased point of view that would prove that i don't "always stick up for the pirates"

The decision is the big thing. It establishes they are breaking laws. with Germany being one of the big guns in Europe expect more EU countries to follow.

The outcome of them being blocked is ess traffic, less advertisers and less profit.
