NEVER - underestimate a 71-yr-old senior! [PICS]

Never underestimate retired seniors.

My father (turned 71 last May) - just finished this fencing project in his backyard.

Its now the envy of the neighbourhood...people often stop by and give him compliments on how great it looks.

Last shot - pops doing some pool maintenance...seen through the side gate portal he built into the fence.

Says the proud son. :thumbsup

Nice work.

There was a time in my life when I did handy things like that. Now I pay Mexicans or Thais to do it. I suppose one day when I'm older I will again enjoy building things.

goldflower 06-24-2009 01:15 PM

Yeah , it`s really great work !!

Before he retired he spent his time building projects for customers (he owned a renovations business) - and now he's finally got the time and resource to build things for himself.

Judging by the extra lengths he took building a damn solid fence - he's saved the best for last.

There's a pride in accomplishment you can't put a price on. He eats up every compliment with a humble smile.

looks really good....i wish i was more handy...or shall i say it...less lazy to do such projects..lol

HBKKH 06-24-2009 01:32 PM

looks good

SilentKnight 06-24-2009 01:35 PM

Sent him the pics earlier and he just replied saying, "Hmm, the pics I took with the Fuji cam didn't turn out as good as those." (he owns a fuji finepix)

So I wrote back saying, "With all the money you saved buildin' the fence yourself...go out and buy a Nikon d80."

:1orglaugh

He's always been a little envious of my Nikon.

Looks like he did a great job.

borked 06-24-2009 01:59 PM

props to pop - I love doing that stuff myself, and at half his age, I'd love to be able to do the same when I get there.

I hear ya'.

I turn 45 on the odometer in Aug. - and though I'm still rather healthy and fit for my age...a fence like that would test my resolve.

Scott McD 06-24-2009 02:10 PM

Kinda puts me to shame. I'd not be able to do that, and even if i could, i'm lazy as hell howadays.

The fact a man of 71 years of age can do it, and do it so well, kinda makes you think...

Yep, he definitely outdid himself - even had the fence design mapped out with Corel right down to the exact measurements...and even rendered it in 3d wireframe before he started.

84, eh? Wow. Must still be in good shape. :thumbsup

biskoppen 06-24-2009 04:44 PM
