Who is funnier Stephen Colbert or Jon Stewart?

Colbert most of the time but Stewart makes fun of people the best.

My sources for news.

WinstonTriplexcash 06-24-2009 11:38 PM

I agree with that. Seen that youtube where colbert grills chevy chase? He can make fun of people too ya know.

Shey 06-24-2009 11:39 PM

Colbert is more goofy-funny. I like Stewart's delivery better and yeah rocks at ripping people a new one!

Well.. Colbert ftw .. he can insult anyone with a straight face and make it look half real :) ... Stewart however is somewhat crazy but when he gets serious he makes some people sweat ..... for a clear reference see his interview with Jim Cramer .....

dav3 06-25-2009 12:23 AM

I like Jon Stewart better.

Colbert, has the best act as his whole show setup is essentially making fun of Fox News/Bill O'Rilley. Stewart though is great and has a serious side that goes with the funny, so it's hard to pick.

I'd say Colbert has the edge on the funny though.

GrouchyAdmin 06-25-2009 12:26 AM

Colbert. He has actual talent, he doesn't need writers to make him funny.

..and fuck any of you who like Colbert Report and not "Strangers with Candy".

Odin 06-25-2009 12:35 AM

Agree with Colbert. I like both though.

You can't troll me, son. I knew you before you had the briss. Yes, I like that, but I hate the new Comedy Central, so I won't watch Colbert Report.

I'm that fucking Grouchy.

I'm not trying to troll you, that bitch just makes me want to reach through my television screen and strangle her. I seriously can't handle that show at all myself. i don't know how anyone can...

Colbert and Stewart both wore off on me quite a while ago, so I don't really watch either any more. If I want newsroom type satire, I go for ONN.

hypedough 06-25-2009 12:52 AM

Colbert when I'm looking for some in-direct sarcastic Republican bashing, and Stewart when I want someone who bashes everyone :)

What the fuck do you have against Amy Sedaris? She's playing a role, and while it's an obnoxious mouthbreather, she represents our country well.

yeah, i tried to watch strangers with candy but that old bitch just made everything seem horribly stupid. I couldn't take it for long.

Bridgette 06-25-2009 05:04 AM

This is a totally biased opinion, because I'm in love with Jon Stewart. :) But I was just listening to Fresh Air with Teri Gross, and she had one of the executive writers from the Colbert Report on - it sounds like they have to work really really hard to create that show, which gives me even more respect for it. She said writing for that character is like "swimming while looking backward" or something...meaning, to try to write that conservative of a character is like taking what you really believe and doing the complete opposite.

TheDoc 06-25-2009 05:08 AM

I like the John Stewart show better, because of that English and Black guy.. They kill me.

Colbert is funny too, he just seems... more high strung than me, and that's hard to deal with.

Martin 06-25-2009 05:21 AM

I like Colberts goofyness, but when it comes to interviewing people he goes over board. Sometimes he has interesting guests on and he doesn't let them speak.

SCORE Ralph 06-25-2009 07:33 AM

Colbert is funnier, but Jon's show is more entertaining.

StaceyJo 06-25-2009 07:47 AM

Jon Stewart is my bet.

Snake Doctor 06-25-2009 07:52 AM

It's like asking who's better out of Metallica and Willie Nelson. You really can't compare.

Colbert is always in character, so there are things you can do with that, that nobody else can do. It also has it's limits though.

I will say that Colbert and his staff are brilliant at using viral marketing though.

art914 06-25-2009 11:34 AM

yep like someone said, jon stewart is easier to watch. colbert is funny but it can only go so far. jon has a better balance of funny and seriousness.

That's how damn good she is. :thumbsup

Kenny B! 06-25-2009 11:43 AM

Stewart is funny but Colbert is quicker I find. they are cut from the same cloth, both kick ass.

CDSmith 06-25-2009 11:45 AM

I get Colbert's humour but I just connect with Jon Stewart's brand a lot more.

They'd make a hell of a ticket for 2012 :D

Can't decide which one would make the better president though.

Her brother writes some pretty damn funny books.

kristin 06-25-2009 12:03 PM

Two different delivery methods, both funny.

In the Q&A pre-show to warm up the crowd, Stephen says "Does anyone have any questions to ask me before i have to become this horrible person?"

Young 06-25-2009 12:03 PM

Apples and Oranges. Can't really compare them. And that's the reason they are on back to back. I watch both religiously.

When people wear Stewart/Colbert for President T-shirts to the show, Stephen always comments that it should be the other way around.

I agree that they are very different, but I think Colbert's whole shtick about inhabiting that character is really amazing. It is also weird to think that Colbert's show has only been on since 2005. Damn he has a pair to do the stuff he does on and off his show.

I love when Colbert meets his match, which rarely happens, in an interview. Did you see the interview with George Will?:

http://www.colbertnation.com/the-col...08/george-will

Yeah his viral marketing is sick too.

2012 06-25-2009 02:01 PM

they were both funnier when Bush was Pres ... they need a new shtick :2 cents:

matty 06-25-2009 03:02 PM
