Acquitted like OJ Simpson.... money buys a lot of lawyers, if you want to parade around in your red leather jacket from the 80's singing Thriller, go right ahead. Personally, in a few months, i won't ever have to hear about this freak show ever again, and I'm perfectly fine with that. :2 cents:

I agree, I didn't like him one bit but he made a significant impact on music industry and delivered music that addressed to many people. I wasn't one of them, but i still respect that fact and try to look at what good he had to offer prior to his passing.

I actually don't know. I just tried to be mean and witty, very hard art before my morning coffee has been finished.

Killswitch - BANNED FOR LIFE 06-25-2009 11:21 PM

Only good thing Michael Jackson ever did was create Smooth Criminal so Alien Ant Farm can remake it and be better at it than him.

RIP MJ! thanks for the songs

Paul Markham 06-25-2009 11:35 PM

He was a great star in the 80s, who never did a lot after that. More of a living legend than a present day talent. Similar circumstances to Presley, a waning star going out at the end of his career. The coroner will confirm the part drugs had to play.

The sad thing is there will ever be anyone like him again. Like there will never be another Chuck Berry, Elvis, Lennon, Hendrix, Morrison and more. Replaced by instant 5 minute wonders like Susan Boyle.

Just glad I was around at the right time to enjoy them.

Michael Jackson R.I.P. :(

Jackson was in debt for millions, right? What happens now with what's left of his estate? Does it go under the ownernship of those that he owes?

Drake 06-26-2009 12:11 AM

Just as a more general question. Say I rack up millions of dollars in debt partying it up every day and then I commit suicide. What happens to that debt? I assume everybody else eventually eats it up (tax payers) in one indirect way or another.

Just heard on the news about his concert in London. 750,000 tickets sold and all will need to be refunded. In the opinion of the reporter it depends on how he died, the insurance and Jackson's contract with AEG who were organising the concert.

Some one is going to get a bill for this.

Jackson rose to great heights and fell to amazing lows.

Manowar 06-26-2009 01:17 AM

RIP to him :(

funny topic

Sarah_Jayne 06-26-2009 03:58 AM

The 02 is going to be seriously hurt by having all those gigs cancelled. It leaves their venue empty for 50 gigs? That will need to be filled.

The cops wouldn't have brought the child molestation charges against such a major superstar as Jackson if they weren't fully convinced he was guilty.

In this particular case - I tend to think of the old saying, 'where there's smoke...there's fire.'

Yep, he was acquitted of the charges. Money has a funny way of accomplishing that.

sure there will.

you named several. they are all the same type of person- they made a contribution to society that affected large groups of people in a good way.

the thing is, as you mentioned, he did his thing and was done. he wasn't making a contribution to anything at this point. i'll let god sort out his dark side but other than all that, he's another person that has passed away.

If there will be people to replace the musical giants of the late 50s to early 80s where are they?

Why they became giants who transcended different generations is up for debate. But that there has been no people to replace them is not. For instance tell me a singer who could fill an arena for 50 dates, or a band who could sell out The Royal Albert Hall for a 5 nights and could of probably sold out twice.

I did not like Michael Jackson, but I recognise his unique ability and gift to the music/entertainment industry. What identifies a great is the ability to come out with something unique, different and great. Like Thriller, Tommy, Electric Ladyland, Sgt Peppers, Disraeli Gears and more. Can you name any albums today that changed the course of popular music lie they did?

IMO one of the reasons of the lack of innovation today is the marketing men and the profits. Marketing go for the easy targets with a guaranteed return. None would of allowed the freedom to the musicians today to create albums like theones I named.

And that s the biggest loss that Jackson's death represents. Even as a star who had waned the sales at O2 show his greatness. With no one to follow or replace him.
