I just got hit by a car.

So I'm coming out of the bank just a half hour or so ago as an old man is pulling across the marked cross walk in front of the bank to park in a handicap space that's parallel to the front of the bank. I wait as he cruises through and comes to a stop. As I walk behind his car, through the crosswalk, he puts it in to reverse and backs in to me. Luckily I put my hand on the trunk of his car and kind of vaulted up on to the trunk of his car. He didn't move very far and fortunately not very fast or I'd have gotten hit pretty good.

Afterwards, he didn't even know he hit me. I explained to him that he did, and he couldn't even hear me until I was only a foot or so away from him. Wasn't even looking as he backed up through a cross walk. I suggested that perhaps he should reconsider driving and that maybe it's come time for him to make other arrangments for transporation. He didn't like that much but fuck him if you hit me with your car I get a free pass to tell you what's on my mind.

Oh well, I'm completely unhurt which is just more evidence that there's no such thing as Karma.

Sounds like everyday in South Florida.

dude yeah... I think anyone over 60 needs to be re-tested for their license every year. Anyone over 70 = every 6 months

Actually the highest risk age bracket is and has always been drivers aged 16-19.

fucking old people like this should be driving tested every 6 months. seriously. a few months back i was at the pump, filling up. pulled in behind this old guy, got out, started pumping my gas. and this old fucked hops in his car, throws it in reverse and backs right into my truck. then he just sits there. i go up and knock on his window and tell him what he just did, he starts bitching at me in the same fashion saying i parked too close to him. i felt like dropkicking him. fortunately there was nothing but a little paint smudge on my bumper, wheras he put a nice big dent in his trunk. serves him right...

my stepmom's mother is another really really bad one, she drives right through 4ways with the excuse "everyone else is stopping".. like jesus fucking christ old people should NOT be driving....

So then those who are in very good health and don't look like they are over 50 but are 70 can't drive because of it, when in reality they are a better, more alert driver than you?

I think it'd be better if they were tested and any failings after 60+ years of driving they should have all the laws down pat, they get revoked, for good.

they are way more lenient of MATURE drivers in Florida because of an PAC called AARP....so you can get a few more wrong answers doing the written test...then lets say a 18 or 19 year old.....they let them slide with there newfound senility and they can be alert as they want to be but when your reflexes are shot.....your an accident waiting to happen.

LiveDose 06-26-2009 09:18 PM

Sure blame the old guy...

I totally got side swiped by some old man the other week, and he didn't even acknowledge he hit me.. I had to follow him and flag him down, I'm pretty sure he knew what he did.. but was just doing the old senile routine.

Pissed me off.

bbobby86 06-27-2009 10:43 AM

ah that Karma...

rip raster 06-27-2009 11:01 AM

Shit man that sucks glad to hear you are ok though. That is one thing I don't miss about living in Vancouver, especially in Richmond where I was, is all the awful drivers. I would seriously be avoiding accidents daily when out on the road and I am not exaggerating.

It's great where I live now there are maybe 10 cars go by all day long and when I drive anywhere it's mostly all highway. In the last week I think I was in my car twice and once was a 2 min drive down the road to a friends place just because I didn't feel like walking because there were a lot of bugs out that day lol.

There seriously needs to be a stricter regulations on old ppl driving. A few weeks back an old lady asked me to look at the light on her dashboard and tell her what was wrong with her car. It was the seat belt light. She was fastening her seat belt into the passenger's buckle so the light never went out. I showed her how to do it right then she backs out of the parking space and pulls out of the lot hopping the curb and out into the road w/out looking either way. I just shook my head.
