Life is 20 years. By giving him 150 years it details out what years he is getting for what count on what crime. Its more for the stat count for the prosecutor and its so-pose to make the victims feel like he got charged for the particular crime he did to them.

Because of the appeals process. You can't just kill them.

The legal process and cost that it takes to put someone to death will way exceed what it cost to house them their whole life.


Even if the guy admits it and wants to get put to death, it will cost the state a stupid amount of money to execute someone. This is put in as a safe guard to not execute innocent people. SafeGuards=court+court+court and even more court!!!

granted as many stated, idont live in countries where there is death for this stuff...but he could do the honorable thing like the japanese and kill himself....plus in those countries that go to that extreme...surely sets a great example to others that want to follow in his footsteps....where as in our country we "punish" by letting them appeal, bargain and then still have the life before the judgement....wheres the fairness in that?

Ok first of all most people that actualy get executed serve a dozen or more years before they are executed. Many die of natural causes before getting executed. Also death row inmates are housed one to a cell. It takes more staff to watch death row inmates. Get it yet? A person on death row for 12 years take as much money to house the same guy for 50 years in general population. And the no one lives for 50 years in prison.

And as much as people will love to due away with it it's a good thing. In my state we just realesed a guy who has been on death row for 25 years for a crime he didn't commit. Too bad he has MS now bad and doesn't have long to live.

2.) seize all of madoff's asset liquidate it and pay it back to all the victims as much as possible.
