HookUPcom 06-29-2009 10:40 AM

Good move... i'm about to throw this piece of crap PC through the window... Takes like 10+ minutes for it to warm up from some sleep only to have me have to restart it because it's running like a 50Mhz machine. It just gets slower and slower each day.

Good move!

Karupted Charles 06-29-2009 10:41 AM

if you need any help hit me up.

bobby666 06-29-2009 11:16 AM

Yeah... I always thought that the way to fix being a stupid user was to spend money on a machine that will give you just as many problems. :2 cents:

voa 06-29-2009 11:43 AM

Raf1 06-29-2009 11:44 AM

MAC's may be good, but in my opinion they are way overpriced. Sure, they may be good, but for the price they sell them at I can build an extremely powerful PC and keep it running great. I've had the same PC for the last 4 years and whenever it gets sluggish I just clean it the inside of the pc, clean out my Windows until things run like I want them to and I never had to spend $2k, $3k or more on a MAC.

Of course, this is my personal opinion and I have nothing against people that use MAC's. I just don't see the point of spending 3 times the $ for a mac.

undersoul 06-29-2009 11:53 AM

get the mac and don't look back!

Furious_Male 06-29-2009 11:55 AM

Ive never had a problem with any of my PCs. I have no urge to go to Mac myself other then I have never owned one and want to try them.

macs are for beta-males, who focus on insignificant things. If you're a grown man with a company you have little use for a Mac. If you're a worker type person, who rely on other people to tell you when to eat, shit, and write up a letter... well then go ahead, let a mac be your rebellion against the fact that you never made it...

Yngwie 06-29-2009 12:07 PM

In all reality, the only reason a MAC is better is because of the OS. So really, you're paying triple the price just to have a more stable OS. I can build a pc much more power than a $3000 mac for much less $, slap the MAC OS in it and it would run just as good as the one you got anally rape for.

It has almost nothing to do with the hardware that they put in the mac.. It's all the os, but with more popularity will also come more virii, spyare, malware etc.. The only real reason that Windows gets attacked so much is due to the # of people using PCs with a Windows OS. As soon as there are enough people that are using macs the people creating the virii and shit will start attacking mac. No computer is 100% safe from everything no matter what they try to make you believe.

Yes, I do wish that MS would finally make an OS that's more stable and secure, but we'll see how Windows 7 is.

DeanCapture 06-29-2009 12:16 PM

Wow, look at the Mac haters come to life :1orglaugh

You guys can call me anything you wanna call me - I promise, I won't lose any sleep over it. I've been a PC user for 15 years. I would like to think that in that amount of time..I learned my way around the PC pretty well. After spending 8 months with a Mac, my experience has shown that things are just faster & easier with a Mac. I enjoyed the Mac experience so much that I recently bought a second one. And this summer...I'll buy a MacBook Pro for our location work. If this somehow makes me inferior to all the he-man PC users out there - I'm fine with that. I have no problem with that at all. I know what works for me and that's all that really matters. Carry on....

biskoppen 06-29-2009 12:19 PM

Windows 7 is the magic word....

I'm not a mac hater and don't care what people use as a computer. Was just giving my personal opinion. :)

The type of computer someone uses does not make them inferior or superior. Again, I wasn't hatin'. :)

Don't buy your RAM from Apple and spend the $90 on Apple Pro care if you're close to an Apple Store.

I would think this would be the most important part of owning a computer and why a Mac is superior. It's ease of use and the productivity would make up for the inflated cost over time. Why care about hardware specs if the OS is a pain in the ass to use. Macs are user friendly, intuitive and straight to the point. That's worth a little bit more to me and why I've been on the same G4 for the last ten years :thumbsup

EHHHHHHH Wrong!

You're showing your ignorance here. MACs are expensive because they use expensive hardware. Go look at what CPU and Motherboard a MAC uses, then go to newegg and look at how much they cost.

And we're not talking same "specs" we're taking same hardware. If you go to build a "comparable" PC, you can't just say "oh I put a dual core 2.0 GHz Intel proc in it, just the same as the MAC." There are dozens of variations of dual core 2.0 intel proc's, and the one's MAC use are not the piece of shit low end ones.

When you buy a MAC you are paying for the Hardware, not the OS. :2 cents:

MACS just work. You don't have to research it to see if its tested with your software/hardware it just works. They don't make many viruses and spyware for MAC so you are less likely to get viruses if your a guy who just downloads from random sources. This is a smart choice for the guy that doesn't know anything about internet security, the configuration of his hardware, and what the specs are on his machine.

If you are a PC guy like me who has a little knowledge of hardware that can build 4 PCs that will smoke a MAC for that same price why not have 4 machines that can render 4 projects at once for the same price. I haven't had a virus since the 90's and I haven't had to format a drive since then etiher. I learned real quick on a PC to download from trusted sources. Better yet get a cheap laptop for downloading your files and just keep your work machine seperate. Better yet do a little research about what graphics chipset, hard drives, and sound card you have and you will have a ROCK SOLID video editing/multimedia powerhouse that will smoke a MAC if you add the right speed hard drives, a REAL TIME graphics card made for YOUR editing software, and enough memory.

It doesn't matter what machine you use as long as its stable and your not an guy who downloads torrents on your editing machine. A little research goes a long way.

If you buy this graphics card http://www.nvidia.com/object/product_quadro_cx_us.html
for Adobe Premiere CS4 you can encode 4 X faster then any MAC PRO ever dreamed about. I wonder how many MAC guys know how to change out their graphics cards (HAHAHA)

MAC is a no brainer though for guys like DEAN that just want to plug and go. I will agree with you there. But if you wanted to build and edit bay spend your money on a faster video card for rendering, not a brand name, unless you are just too busy to fuck with it like DEAN which most of you don't have time to learn all this shit. Good thing I know how to configure PCs otherwise I would probably hate them as well and buy and overpriced MAC thats not as fast as my setup.

who 06-29-2009 02:22 PM

Buying a Mac is like buying a book which reads itself, in a pleasant, but sterile voice.

My time is valuable. Therefore I can't waste my time fucking around cleaning up registry settings, spyware, adware, temp files and uninstalled programs that just won't go way in order to get my computer working the way it did when I bought it.

In the last 2 1/2 years I haven't had to do any of that shit to the 2 Macbook Pro's I've had (passed down the last one to my sister...still works as new) My desktop PC....that's another story.

What you don't pay in $$$$. You'll pay in your time maintaining the damn thing.

I concur.. Im so much more efficient now with my mac.. i still have my PC's online but whenever i turn to use them i find myself cursing and goign right back on the mac book pro.. Its not a marketing gimmick its a fact! The OS is stable and pretty much bug free and BSD/unix is a breath of fresh air with a stable GUI.. MacOSX rocks..!

If it wasn't for the amount of time I travel with mine I would have gone with the 17" for sure. So I went with the 15 below

Code:

  Model Name:        MacBook Pro
  Model Identifier:        MacBookPro5,1
Processor Name:        Intel Core 2 Duo
  Processor Speed:        2.8 GHz
  Number Of Processors:        1
  Total Number Of Cores:        2
  L2 Cache:        6 MB
  Memory:        4 GB
  Bus Speed:        1.07 GHz

I'm kind of glad I got in before they pulled the express card slot (I have a 7 in 1 card reader in it now) from the new 15's

Juicy D. Links 06-29-2009 03:08 PM

I get a free Ipod Touch with my order heheeh

Again. Do not buy RAM from Apple, unless you don't mind paying 400% or so markup (on already retail pricing).

Do that and you will regret it. :1orglaugh
