Stileproject.com for sale! Holy shit!

Hi there. Lots of you folks may know me and Stileproject http://www.stileproject.com. My site has been around since October of 1999. Currently around #2600 on Alexa, and getting 400,000 uniques per day.

I also have a bunch of other sites -- check out www.stilenet.com for the list. Most noteworthy is theforum.com which is a message board with 60,000 members, 5 paysites (which i would be willing to sell seperately) and blogwars.com and a bunch of other sites you can check out at www.stilenet.com

Basically i'm looking to sell stileproject.com or sell and be hired to run the site.

What I would ideally like to do is start it over from scratch and tube it up, along with social networking functionality and a bunch of other ideas. I don't have the resources to do this right now. The site has just been me and a sysadmin for 10 years now. I have so many ideas and no resources to get them done. I would want a full time programmer to help me build the site into what it should be. I know I can get it to #1000 in 30 days of relaunching.

The buyer would get all the hardware running ALL the sites, around 40 high quality servers, routers, etc.

You could hire me to run the site if you like and even do ad sales etc.

You'd be hard pressed to find anyone that doesn't know stileproject... its been my life for the last 10 years.

Financials available on request. I'm looking for 7 figures for this, so don't email me if you're not serious.

I can fill you in on all the info/stats/financials, and when you hear it, you'll be interested.

email me [email protected]

1st CJ sales and now you.. what is the net coming to these days

fris 06-29-2009 05:00 PM

good luck stile, it would be best if someone bought it and hired you to run it, I know from experience selling a site you run, and the person who buys will most likely run it into the ground.

LeRoy 06-29-2009 05:01 PM

Awesome site good luck with the sale :thumbsup

stile 06-29-2009 05:03 PM

i have no choice, my programmer got a job offer from the coolest tech company out there for a lot of money being their head programmer for some new top secret shit and its really something any sane person would be hard to resist taking. i can't run my stuff without him and i wouldn't want to, he's been with me since the beginning.

Nicky 06-29-2009 05:05 PM

wow, good luck with the sale man.

stile 06-29-2009 05:07 PM

i really dont want to sell but have no choice. traffic has been going up like crazy lately and the site is more popular than it ever has been, should do 10 mil uniques this month.

fuzebox 06-29-2009 05:07 PM

I really hope you don't sell it to someone who will replace the front page with a credit card join page.

stile 06-29-2009 05:13 PM

yeah i wouldnt want to either :( this site has been all i've known for the last 10 years.

Furious_Male 06-29-2009 05:20 PM

Angry Jew Cat - Banned for Life 06-29-2009 05:22 PM

i thought the site had been bought and sold like 2 or 3 times already since its inception?

Doctor Feelgood 06-29-2009 05:30 PM

7 figures divided by 20% due to the recession

KingpinMedia 06-29-2009 05:33 PM

So lets say 5.000.000 / 20% (20% of 5mill is 1 mill) = 5 bucks? OK, I take it

DaddyHalbucks 06-29-2009 05:36 PM

Could be a nice deal for the right buyer.

Angry Jew Cat - Banned for Life 06-29-2009 05:37 PM

if it's still profitable, why not just hire a new programmer?

The million+ should help that.

stile 06-29-2009 06:06 PM

well, a million aint what it used to be... after taxes you get half of what you sell for, and then it's done. what i worked 10 years to build is gone in the blink of an eye.

$5 submissions 06-29-2009 06:09 PM

Good luck with the sale and best wishes on your future ventures.

BestXXXPorn 06-29-2009 06:14 PM

I built an mmo gaming network for six years of my life... then WoW came along and destroyed the entire industry... In the blink of an eye my company and my 6 employees were gone... sucked and I feel ya...

Robbie 06-29-2009 06:19 PM

Great opportunity for someone. I just heard stileproject mentioned on the news offhandedly the other day in a discussion on porn.

I wish I had the extra money to spend and I would take this in a heartbeat.

stile 06-29-2009 06:24 PM

heh stileproject was on CNN a bit ago.. what news were u listening to?

If you do sell, you may want to talk with a financial guy prior. You could probably roll over a lot of that seven figures into another "self managing" business to keep a residual income going over the long term. That's what I would do anyway, because you're right... if you are accustomed to a particular lifestyle, those seven figures can go faster than you'd imagine.

Adam_M 06-29-2009 06:41 PM

Sounds interesting.

Rick Diculous 06-29-2009 06:44 PM

Stileproject was one of the first "porn site" I bookmarked 10 years ago!! Good luck with the sale

kush 06-29-2009 06:49 PM

I wish you the best of luck. And that's some great advice from Sly ;)

Assuming the buyer hired you and the full time programmer you needed, about what would be the monthly cost of running the site for the new owner, everything figured in? (with the goal set to your ambitious vision)

woj 06-29-2009 06:57 PM

good luck with the sale dude :thumbsup

fris 06-29-2009 08:24 PM

stile i know a good programmer if you want to hire someone

LiveDose 06-29-2009 08:38 PM

Good luck man.

stile 06-29-2009 08:39 PM

i really have no idea what im going to do.

i already have 20 offers in the last 2 hours. i really dont know what to do. i'd love for someone to buy us out and let us hire some additional programmers to blow the site up and redo it from scratch. stileproject is my life, i don't do anything else but work on the site. i'm seriously depressed right now. its just been me and my sysadmin for the last 9 years and we're just overworked from running 15 sites and burnt out.

what do you guys think i should do and how much do u think i should sell for?

What would happen if you've unloaded some of the other 14 sites to take some strain off of you and then you can focus on the one that you truly care about?

Agent 488 06-29-2009 08:48 PM

take a holiday ans get some perspective man.

wtfent 06-29-2009 08:49 PM

lol man I was browsing Stile when I was still in highschool in 2000 before I even had a computer. Stile, I'm not even joking when I say this, The first time I ever looked at online porn was on your site specifically the random pics page. lol will never forget it, for the longest time your site was the only place my friends and I went for porn. :thumbsup

wtfent 06-29-2009 08:52 PM

I had no idea about search engines or anything, I was just told by my buddy Charlie about Stileproject.com and that was my portal to the web. Any browsing i did to any other sites I clicked on from Stile Project.

Best of luck man, I really hope you find a buyer.

That's the best advice you can get.

People are out in the real world unable to find jobs. You have a site that makes good money. You're just burnt out. I get that way too...and then I compare what other people are going through and realize I have it damn good.

Killswitch - BANNED FOR LIFE 06-29-2009 08:58 PM

Fuck, first Farrah, Then MJ, Billy Mays, now Stile?

It's the end of the world as we know it... and I DON'T feel fine. :(

tigermtb 06-29-2009 09:11 PM

Wow, well.. whoever buys it I'd be happy to help with ad sales ;)

Best of luck with the sale, although its pretty shitty timing.. :(

Rock It 06-29-2009 09:16 PM

Well You need to take a break bro.
Your caught up and wound way to tight right now.

Your site which I remember very distinctly as being cutting edge , was a great look at what sites would become in the future.

I have not taken a look at the site in years but just as you know the internet is not gonna change in the next 60 to 90 days.

The valuation of your site right now cause you are depresses would be a wrong decision,
look back at when you started and what you wanted to accomplish I am sure you have surpassed all your goals if you had any.

There will be soembody out there that will buy your site and I am sure you will get the wire into your account and be happy for about 20 minutes...then you will have remorse for a lifetime.

Your basically someone who has been succesfull with a partner who is leaving and you are directionless.

Not trying to be an idiot or anything like that but I would put the site on auto pilot for a while and not worry too much and take a 2 to 3 month journey to a place like Africa or India and see what the world is all about.

I am sure with a break like that you will come back with a lot of inspiration and the right person will come around with which you can implement what you need to do and move forward into the next decade.

Mutt 06-29-2009 09:18 PM

this really doesn't add up - your main reason for selling you say is that you've lost your programmer to a big job in mainstream - nobody in mainstream is offering your programmer who has been working 10 years on a shock website for hundreds of thousands of dollars - if your programmer was making big money with you he wouldn't be leaving.

it sounds to me like you want to cash out before things go down the shitter - which is fine, nothing wrong with that. i just don't think you're selling because you've lost or losing your programmer.
