A few are big names and the others may have been forgotten over time but all still hold eternity on film/radio.
11. Fred Travalena June 28, 2009: Fred Travalena, 66, an American entertainer, specializing in comedy and impersonations. 10. Billy Mays June 28, 2009: Billy Mays, 50, US infommercials host who went from selling products on the Atlantic City Boardwalk to become a national celebrity. 09. Gale Storm June 27, 2009: Gale Storm, 87, US television atcor and singer. Born Josephine Owaissa Cottle, she became a star after winning a radio talent show and had her own TV sitcom, My Little Margie in the early 1950s. She also starred in The Gale Storm Show: Oh! Susanna and had several top 10 hits. 08. Michael Jackson June 25, 2009: Michael Jackson, 50, US singer dubbed the King of Pop. He was rushed to hospital with a suspected heart attack and could not be revived. Jackson had a string of hits with the Jackson 5 in the 1970s before launching a spectacular solo career, releasing many multimillion-selling albums including Thriller and Bad. 07. Farrah Fawcett June 25, 2009: Farrah Fawcett, 62, US actress who gained fame in the television series Charlie's Angles, of cancer. The former swimsuit model, once married to Lee Majors, was the partner of actor Ryan O'Neal. 06. Ed McMahon June 23, 2009: Ed McMahon, 86, veteran US broadcaster best known as sidekick to legendary Tonight Show host Johnny Carson. McMahon's introduction, "Heeeeeeeere's Johnny", was much imitated and parodied. He also hosted a series of TV blooper shows and appeared in many commercials. 05. Bob Bogle June 14, 2009: Bob Bogle, 75, lead guitarist with 1950s band The Ventures, who had hits with Walk - Don't Run and Hawaii Five-O. 04. Habib Tanvir June 8, 2009: Habib Tanvir, 84, Indian playwright, theatre director and actor. 03. Shih Kien June 3, 2009: Shih Kien, 96, Hong Kong actor best known for playing the rival of Bruce Lee's character in the kung-fu classic Enter the Dragon. 02. David Carradine June 3, 2009: David Carradine, 72, US actor best known as star of the 1970s television series Kung Fu. More recently, he played an assassin in the Quentin Tarrantino film Kill Bill. Thai police said the actor was found dead in a Bangkok hotel room with a rope around his neck. 01. Koko Taylor June 3, 2009: Koko Taylor, 80, multi award-winning US blues singer best known for her signature tune Wang Dang Doodle. |
Damn... Dude from the Ventures died... I love the Ventures. Pipeline and Hawaii 5-0 were some of my faves from them. Oh yeah, and their cool version of APACHE
