(I'm talking about 3rd party newsletter sendout companies like icontact, constantcontact, responsys, etc.)

I have a danish company I use. But it depends on the volume, because they dont want 1mill+ mail lists

Their listprice is from around $1000-1200 for sending 500.000 emails (or around $60 each 10.000 in lower numbers)

You can program/use your own API, and all the other std. features like stats and the ability to edit the links in newletters already send.. and so on.

what volume / frequency

You will have to contact them, it is used for a corporate solution often. So it isn't cheap but many large companies use it.

Do you use this for the kink new member account emails? Just asking because in google apps/gmail they end up in the spam folder.

Low volume. This is just for sending out offers/newsletters to our existing customer database(s). (~100,000)

I contacted lyris.com but no reply as of yet.
