Anyone remember the Commodore Vic-20 or 64 ??

Those were the days!

I remember running my Commodore 64 BBS on my parents
home phone at night and during the day..lol

I guess you can say I was a webmaster since 1986!

lol..

Calico Jack 07-01-2009 10:01 PM

Indeed the were. A Commodore 64 was my first computer. I thought I was shit hot when I got my Amiga 500! I remember paying a few hundred dollars once to get an extra 500k of ram for it. Woohoo!

GrouchyAdmin 07-01-2009 10:03 PM

I had the Vicmodem 300. Simplex! Flipped a switch on the side to switch between send and receive.

One of my first 'real' programs was an animation which liberally abused the CBM character set.

I gave my whole vic-20 collection complete with 16k RAM expansion pack and dipswitch box to allow 4 carts at once! away at a garage sale in the early 90s.

Protip: Don't use the 16k cart if you need to do any RT shit; it disables the clock. Entirely.

F-U-Jimmy 07-01-2009 10:06 PM

Sure i had a Vic 20

Mr Pheer 07-01-2009 10:06 PM

I was a pro at re-aligning the 1541 floppy drive.

kane 07-01-2009 10:08 PM

I had the powerful Commodore 128.

My buddy had the 64 and he had the tape drive. He had a game that you would start then press play on the tape drive and it took 15 minutes for it to load. If you died after playing for 2 minutes you had to reload the whole thing.

Godsmack 07-01-2009 10:08 PM

i still have two C64's complete with diskdrive and all sorts of accessories
C64 and Amiga are my personal favorites.. ran 9 node BBS on Ami Express on the Amiga for many years, was European headquarters for a few groups, one was Razor1911

LiveDose 07-01-2009 10:27 PM

My first computer was a Vic20. My how far we've come...

Zorgman 07-01-2009 10:51 PM

I ran my first BBS of my Amiga 500 with a 52MB Hard drive and a 2400 modem.

Remember this?

RobertD 07-01-2009 10:53 PM

Had a C64 for a while, ditched it for an Amiga 500.

.

sexdatesj 07-01-2009 11:11 PM

Too bad that the Amiga was a flop..

I remember when I got a 1571 drive, wow.. that was fast!
I had a buddy with a Hard Drive, now.. those were expensive back
in those days, like $1500 or something.

I had a shitty 128k baud modem, something really shitty, of course, I was like in the 9th grade in 1986..

MikeSmoke 07-01-2009 11:13 PM

Yep, I remember them, but I had an Atari 400 (with a bubble keyboard).

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...tari_400P8.jpg

But I finally took the plunge and upgraded to a Atari 1200XL with a 300 baud modem that really rocked :1orglaugh

sexdatesj 07-01-2009 11:15 PM

How about the TRS-80 aka TRASH 80 from Radio Shack, $2000+ PC that sucked ass!

sexdatesj 07-01-2009 11:18 PM

Yeah, my 52MB hard drive for the Amiga was about $1200 at the time. But ram was about $100 for 1 MB stick. I had 4MB added on.

Mind you, the Amiga was a great machine, but 4MHz was fucken slow.

TondaB 07-01-2009 11:46 PM

I had the Commodore 128/64. I use to get these pc magazines that would have the code to type in that would create your own games. I loved it when that magazine arrived:)

PiffStenis 07-02-2009 12:07 AM

I had a ZX-Spectrum, then got a 64 as the graphics and sound were so much better. I remember playing Elite, Ghostbusters and Paradroid.

SayWhut 07-02-2009 12:10 AM

Pornwolf 07-02-2009 03:00 AM

The Vic 20 was my second computer. The c64 was my third. Tape drives with both of them. Programming was extremely fun on both and EA Sports Summer Games and Magic Vs. Bird were great on the 64.

The TI99 was my first.

Friend of mine had a VIC20. We had no idea what to do with it but god it was exciting.
Then a neighbor got the Vic64 and we used to play it all night long.

My first computer was the Amiga500. Still have it laying around here somewhere
