Credit Card Processing Company Authorize.net Knocked Offline
Illustrating the continued fragility of the modern Internet, threads in both the Zen Cart and Web Hosting Talk forums indicate that one of the country's largest credit card authorization networks has gone completely offline. According to several posters, a "perfect storm" was created by the combination of a data center fire and the July 4 weekend holiday, resulting the company going completely dark for more than five hours and counting. The company's phone lines and this Authorize.net website remains offline as of this writing. If your weekend beer purchase didn't go through, now you know why....

Holy shit... authorize.net shouldn't have a temporary screwup, damn sure not like this one. That's like saying epoch & ccbill, together go down over a holiday weekend.

Its choppy, we are getting some and not others. everyone is going wild trying to catch up
|
very unfortunate what is happening to authorize.net, we have transaction servers in 4 different locations around the world to greatly reduce the chances of something like this occurring to ccbill... its regrettable that not many processors have similar redundencies
|
the internap datacenter they are in had a fire in the power room everyone was running off of backup power for a bit.

I'm just amazed that this thread got a whopping 15 replies on the largest adult webmaster forum on the internet. Wow.
