Would you fly on a 'standing only' flight?

Ryanair want to introduce standing only flights - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...ram-board.html

The guy is on crack.

F-U-Jimmy 07-06-2009 08:36 AM

It will never happen :error

digifan 07-06-2009 08:36 AM

No way... I hate to fly anyways.

naughtylaura 07-06-2009 08:39 AM

WTF!!! That would be a nightmare flight! xx

Manowar 07-06-2009 08:42 AM

health and safety circus right there

mrwilson 07-06-2009 08:43 AM

Yeh i would have to try that, sounds pretty fun lol especially on the take off and landing.

I can see it ever happening though, health and safety wouldn't approve.

Deesnuts 07-06-2009 08:48 AM

that'll never work

viki 07-06-2009 08:49 AM

i think i would do it if it was just an hour flight and the cost was maybe half of a regular ticket.

Ross 07-06-2009 08:50 AM

He pisses me off this guy! Always looking for ways to cut costs.. he is looking to introduce no checking bags in now as well. Basically you would need to take your case all the way to the stairs of the plane and leave it like you do on a coach and then it will be put into the baggage hold. When you get off the plane you pick it back up at the stairs again. Ryanair already charge £10 per checked bag so I have no idea why he thinks this is gonna work. I need to fly with them to come home as they are the cheapest but its getting to the stage I am seriously gonna come with someone else coz they piss me off so much.

seeandsee 07-06-2009 08:52 AM

jesus they are crazy

MichaelP 07-06-2009 08:56 AM

NOPE ! I already hate flying :(

Nicky 07-06-2009 09:07 AM

Only if the pilot is standing too.

Ryanair is a stand-up company :thumbsup ;)

Tom_PM 07-06-2009 09:10 AM

Heck you all, why be comfortable when you can STAND!! WOOT!!!!!!!!

oh yeah I see.. no friggin way.

slapass 07-06-2009 09:10 AM

This company is really changing the industry which is cool but I wish they could get gates at real airports. Sort of wreaks the whole cheap thing when it costs 100 euros to get to your plane by taxi.

Lots of carriers do that. I have done that in US, Mexico, Portugal, Germany.

PlugRush Sascha 07-06-2009 09:19 AM

Haha, that'll never happen unless they figure out a way to safely secure passengers while standing. Some bad turbulence and you have people bashing into everything otherwise.

The face on that woman is perfect.

No way would I do a standing flight. I am not a big fan of flying to begin with and the regular seats aren't all that comfortable. And how the hell can that actually meet safety requirements?

CDSmith 07-06-2009 09:23 AM

This is your captain speaking. We're heading into a bit of turbulence,

please fasten your feetbelts.

He is a special kind of ass. Did you ever see the expose show done on the airline and the state of their planes? Plus, talk to some disabled passengers about their treatment. He also didn't want security checks after 7/7.

Unlimited 07-06-2009 09:28 AM

this is a joke, right?

intellichat 07-06-2009 09:42 AM

If you upgrade would you get something to lean on? :1orglaugh

Tom_PM 07-06-2009 09:46 AM

Yeah, and if you ask for a blanket, you get a hat. Every meal would have to be on a stick.

Ever been on a standing rollercoaster? It'd probably be the same type of setup if they actually went through with it. You can probably fit more people standing up and maybe the pilot can fly some loops to make it even more exciting! :1orglaugh

EscortBiz 07-06-2009 09:56 AM

people stand on trains why not on planes

i can already see what will happen, on takeoff guys will have an excuse to "by mistake" fall into some girls tits

Fletch XXX 07-06-2009 10:05 AM

short answer, yes i would.

StaceyJo 07-06-2009 10:46 AM

No way, unhealthy to old passengers.

I haven't been on many trains that took off.

Serge Litehead 07-06-2009 11:21 AM

flying canned sardines))

could see it happening for shorter flights, no way would want to stand up in 8-10hr. flight, maybe just for kicks I would do it once if it was for free)

borked 07-06-2009 11:25 AM

I real doubt that will get IAA approval, and even if it does, what about the flights intra-continentental? Surely that needs EAA approval?

From the guy who wanted to charge customers 1GBP for taking a piss, but backed off due to the outlash comments.

People can only be pushed so far and already they are squeezed for every last penny with bullshit extras, like "check in"

I only fly them because they have some great direct flights for me, where the others all have connections. But if I have to stand or pay to piss, he can go whistle

C-Luv 07-06-2009 11:27 AM

No I don't think so!

The Heron 07-06-2009 11:28 AM

So did anyone actually READ the article or just this posts headline? Here's a qoute for you idiots "The Irish air carrier plans to cut costs by making fliers perch on stools with seatbelts around their waists." So not really standing.

Sarah_Jayne 07-06-2009 11:31 AM

I would rather stand than perch on a stool.

Prodigee 07-06-2009 11:58 AM

Farts would be twice as bad with double the people and half the room.

I might not get away with them anymore :(

ultimatebbwdotcom 07-06-2009 12:07 PM

sweet, not only do you get to stand up for 2 hours, you get to do it crammed in with 60 odd extra passengers.

CDSmith 07-06-2009 12:21 PM

Since I'm willing to pay EXTRA for a comfier roomier seat with better service I'm thinking this perched on a stool/standing thing probably isn't for me.

Besides, my back would never take sitting on a stool for that long, even an hour would kill. To be in pain for 2 days after just to save a few bucks? I don't think so.

Incidentally, are people who fly this way going to become known as "stoolies"? :D

flashfire 07-06-2009 12:31 PM

that would suck, no way

AaliyahLove 07-06-2009 01:00 PM

Hell no!! Not even if it were a free flight!!

TubeTitans_SusieQ 07-06-2009 01:02 PM

it's an O'Leary, them guys are always batshit insane.

MSantore 07-06-2009 01:10 PM

Only if I still get my in flight meal ;)

u-Bob 07-06-2009 01:47 PM
