New to Traffic Trading, Lurker Saying Hi & Help

18 months on the board and only 1 post? Shame on me eh? Nonetheless I've been reading and learning a lot on the way. "Hi!".

So, i finally got arrow trader working in my WP blog, and now I've no idea where/who to start trading with!? I find myself asking questions like;

Is it worth registering a trade with a huge site? If i can't get into their toplist?
If i trade with someone and it doesn't work out, what REALLY happens?
There are a million TGPs out there, but relatively few people who trade in a blog like me, how do i find them?
What best way to trade when I have a blog with 30 niches, images and videos?
Should I "nofollow" the links in my toplist? Or let the PR2 flow to add incentive for people to send traffic?

That's just the first few things that have come up, having paused on 10 signup pages today.

Please help and point at stuff ;)

You should trade with sites only related to your niche, if you start to trade to much out of your niche then those links will become useless..

So i'm best creating ~10 toplists, one for each niche, and coding each of them to show on specific niche pages depending on content/tag. The same way i code my adverts.

I'll do that, I guess the question holding me up is... if i cock it up, and get blacklisted by a site, should I worry? Or are there so many it's not a concern?

The most important thing is that you do what you promise and if you decide to put a link down contact that website and let them know.

Their are basically three types of link exchanges: paid ones, links for traffic and links for PR. Toplist links are about traffic, but for a starting site it is also good to look at hardlink deals for PR purposes. I am sure you can find some could ones at the traffic trade section of this board.

Good luck!

WHOAH!!!! Wait. STOP!

So you built a WP site and now you are going to GIVE away Valuable traffic to someone who is most likely going to send back the shit of the shit traffic?

To me, Thats just not smart.

WP was built for Search Engines, and in no time they are listed. You have to work them a bit to get and keep top rankings but its not that hard. So WHY would you give that SE traffic away for someones skimmed FREE TGP or TUBE traffic?

I definately appreciate this comment, I got a (free) plug posted 2 days ago, and added the site to my arrow trader. What happened? 6,000 in hits, Raw productivity 5-7%, bounce rate 68%+ (from Google Analytics). That's just rubbish isn't it?

- In real terms, I got 1,920 hits.
- Take out of that nocookie, and blockedref, I got maybe 1,600 hits.
- Those 1,600 people viewed an average of 1.4 pages each.

How many signups did i get that day? 1. A playboy trial worth a massive $1.70.

Scale that all up to figure out what I'd need to make $5,000... i'd need? 1.76 million hits... yes million hits. That is a great example of a model that doesn't work.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I like my SE traffic, but the problem I have is getting MORE of it :) Having been hovering around the 3,000 uniques per day for 4 months, it's not going up! Frustration has lead me to trading scripts, with an intention of finding sites that have good productivity with my own. Aren't sites like coolios, asredas, and badgirlsblog a model worth aiming at replicating?
What should I be after? More hardlinks? Directories? Free plugs?
Thanks all,
kma
You must have 3000 to 5000 uniques to start a site like this. You can sign up to trade on 3 big sites and 3 small sites. No more than that is needed. Make sure before hand that these trades will work by testing them for a day. On a site like thumbzilla it will give you back only half the trade you sent them. That is why it not good to trade with only big sites because you will get back less. Its a simple technique as long as you have starter traffic to send out.
