Camera opinion

Would that be a good starter camera for high quality content (images)? I'm almost certain the video would fall 2nd to the higher priced models, but input would be appreciated on that.

Hey JM.. GO with something that is at least 8mp and has changable lenses so that you can get better ones. In the long run a lot of it comes down the the lens.

as for the videos, you can start out with ANY HD cam and make some nice size and quality vidoes. Just keep in mind one of the big things about HD is LOTS of light.

That camera is supposed to be decent. You can swap lenses.

When you're ready to order whichever camera you choose, check out www.newegg.com for a price comparison. They've got great prices.

Thanks for the input guys. =) I'll make sure the lens is swappable before settling.

Hey I agree. You definitely want something that is 8MP of higher. I would go with Canon as it is the only cameras I will buy. I have had over 10 canons and absolutely love them. They are durable and take good quality photos. Have a look at the Rebel by Canon! It's a amazing SLR camera where you'll definitely get what you pay for!

The camera he's looking at is a Rebel T1i.

It's a nice camera.

The link wasn't working for me yesterday. Indeed a very nice camera with great specs.

Go for it!!!

Canon Rebel T1i is a good camera. It's selling for $809.95 at beards and hat in nyc: http://tinyurl.com/n6hjua

Keep in mind... for a little more... ok - 3 times the price - you can get the baddest camera out right now: Canon 5D Mark II :
http://tinyurl.com/l75j9c

It shoots stills and HD video... worth the extra money in the long run if that's where you're headed. I had doubts about how the video would look coming out of a DSLR... but I'll tell you what - once you see what this camera can do you'll ditch whatever video camera you have and you'll stick with the 5DMK2.

One setback is the audio recording capabilities. You might have to record audio separately unless of course you're doing voice overs.

In the end... it all depends on the content though. Don't forget it.

Thanks for all of the input! Thoughts on going with http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16830120262 instead?

billyde 07-17-2009 01:52 AM

It will do the trick but it's more towards the consumer side...

sexuallyhealed 07-17-2009 03:59 AM

900 bucks? it better be decent

The only difference between the two models is the MP, and HD video recording is 7 minutes max on the Xsi compared to the t1. I won't be shooting movies really, so unless there's a better reason than the two aforementioned ones I'd say it's worth saving the money on. Wouldn't you agree?

Here's what the guy at bh photo told me I should pick up (really helpful, friendly guy):

canon 430 flash
diffuser
16 gig stick
ac adapter
extra battery

Sound about right?
