Do you own 5 or MORE sites of the same type? (tube, paysite etc) I need your input

I am putting together a package where I offer a custom coded site. SE friendly and table-less HTML and CSS. All hand-coded and commented btw. No grinder BS.

Then I will create custom logos and stylesheets for each site in your network.
It's basically a skinning system for paysites or tubes. Anything really.

So, each site will have the same HTML but look totally unique.
This helps a lot with updates and edits in the future.

NOW, assuming the design and layout were acceptable, what do you think is a fair price for 1 HTML Template and 10 totally unique logos and stylesheets?

Extras will include:
Customized Episode Boxes (any combo of thumbs, video, text and links)
Customized Navigation (the sky is the limit - mouseovers, tabular etc)
Custom favicon for each site

and maybe a couple more :winkwink:

Almost a full hour and not a single view :1orglaugh I need to remember to put [pics] next time. If you do find yourself in this lonely thread, please give me a bump. A real reply would be nice too. Thanks gfy

including a logo that matches what the customer ordered, I would say about $800 -1500 depending on how good the design is.

Nicky 07-17-2009 01:01 PM

That would also depend abit on what sort of site it is, paysites are usually a bit more than say blogs etc. But minimum $1000 I'd say

PSD CSS XHTML 07-17-2009 01:08 PM

KrisH - that's pretty close to what I was thinking. I'm a bit higher, but I am also including some stuff I didn't mention here.

Nicky - good point. For the sake of this thread, I guess we can go with paysites.

Here is an early mockup.

Special thanks to Doug @ Sweet Teen Cash for the content you see on this sample.

This is just one idea and one variation. Any configuration you can imagine is possible.

if it was for one site only, I would pay around $200-250 for that, from a designer i work with regularly.

so if you add 10 of those together - good logos/identities, I would say somewhere between 1200 and 1800 USD

$2K was what I was thinking for 10.

Does your guy do hand coded, table-less CSS?
SEoptimized?
Include the extras like sign-up page and members area template?

The day I ask a designer to do SEO, is the day money is free :thumbsup
But other than that, yes they do

the only way I would pay $2000, was if it was written to a CMS that wasent a business standard AND the 4logos/headers were REALLY exeptional.

$2000 is what I pay for a full week of design-work. And you can do those sites I less that that.

:1orglaugh:1orglaugh I understand that. I'm not talking the full SEO work. I just mean creating HTML that is optimized for it. With the proper use of h1 and h2 tags, and not riddled with <td> everywhere, or some shitty grinder code. Real simple basics but something I see lacking in almost every sample I see listed on gfy.

"Custom favicon for each site"

you can charge it 2$ per site

:1orglaugh That was the idea with some of the 'extras' I didn't list. It's not stuff you could charge a whole lot for, but it's still stuff people want and usually don't usually get when they order new tours.

True dat.

Good luck finding a lot of buyers in this economy though. 95% of this industry can't, or won't, buy anything over $500.00. So keep that in mind when working out deals you are planning on volume.

The higher the price point, the more marketing you will have to do.

Sweet! Thanks for the mention, man.

I should add that you're a joy to work with and very polite and professional. Hope this venture works out for you!

More good points. This is what inspired me to do this in the first place. I knew no one could afford 10K so I shot for 2K as a goal.

I appreciate that. Your content really helps to make my sample come alive. I think I fell in love with one of your girls last night. Can you tell which one? :winkwink:

That's great! I'm open to negotiate if you only need one or two sites as well.

Fix the css text on the bottom of your site in IE7. Looks to be cut off.

We charged a personal friend/client $800 to design her custom template, graphics, logo, etc. But I also threw in a professional photoshoot of her retail store to add into the pages.

Had she not been a friend, we'd have charged in the neighbourhood of $1500-2k for it (including photoshoot).

You seem like a good person, but this thread really isn't the place to report issues like that like. Why would you call him out in a business thread?

As a professional web developer I never critic others work as I would my own. However, that was uncalled for.

Maybe you should stop worrying about other websites and fix the 180 errors on your version three. Or perhaps use a less restrictive doc type.
