Changing a TGP into a Blog (will Google be ok with the change?)
I've got a small, PR1 TGP that is ranked well in multiple google searches, that gets 1500-1800 daily uniques straight from google.
I'm thinking about changing it from a full-on TGP to a blog with a few galleries. Is there a chance I could lose all my google rankings and/or SE traffic once the transition is over? I understand I'll lose overall traffic from my cancelled traffic trades but I'm not worried about that. Has anyone ever done this before or know what might happen? Thanks |
Just out of curiosity, why not just make a new blog in a folder or subdomain of your TGP site?
If you are trying to take shortcut and keep all your backlink traffic, I am pretty sure that when Google catches on to the change the effect is not going to be good. |
Putting the blog in a /blog/ folder is certainly an option but I was hoping to have people find the blog before they find the tgp. So google would still link to the main www.com TGP area first.
The whole idea behind starting a blog is that I'm thinking I'll get better conversions/sales by teasing the surfers with posts - rather than "giving away" all the free stuff in the TGP area. The /blog/ seems like it would cause me to have to build up the traffic and google ranking from scratch. Maybe I'm wrong. |
DONT do either. You will take a hit that may take 90 days or more to recover from.
Build a blog on another domain on another server and feed the TGP if you dont have a traffic trade, and use the tgp to feed the blog. Hit me on ICQ if you like. |
Thanks pornguy
I've got a nice domain that will work for the blog. I'll start working on that. Anybody else wanna chip in their :2 cents: ? |
