5 days in Quebec? Anyone have ideas?
I want to go to Quebec in the spring. As someone who has never been to the East Coast, what month should I go- and because I am a tourist what cities should I stay in or focus on visiting. Landmark suggestions, tours, museum recommendations all appreciated.

Quebec isn't really the east coast, and its full of arrogant french people who don't speak proper french.
Go to Nova Scotia or New Brunswick. Nicer people. |

BradM: When you say Quebec you refer to the province or the city? There's plenty of thing to do.... Montreal nightlife offer ou a bunch of options... If you are looking for something more relaxing there's bunch of spa, you can also rent a small house on a lake, go fishing, etc... I recommand you this website: http://www.bonjourquebec.com/ |
i was supposed to go to montreal but i have pending fucking court, ASSHOLES
id just go to sleep with all the french women. |
"spring" is far from being the best time to visit .
Do that in Summer ,,, Street festivals inMontreal, Quebec city as well as many other municipalities. In spring, visit Quagmire region to witness first hand idiots in their natural habitat ...like a zoo ....:2 cents: |

We vacationed in Nova Scotia a few summers back and really enjoyed the sights and hospitality everywhere we went. Granted, I used to live just outside of Halifax back in the 70s, but it was nice to find not much had changed in the friendly dept. |
Learn French, and be prepared to be made to feel like a total loser for not knowing it.

For all the froggies who got hurt by the truth. |
I did a little road trip last year, went from Montreal to Quebec City, checked out the Chute Montmorency on my way up to Tadoussac...It was an awesome trip.
Quebec city, is just gorgeous. The old port is amazing to walk around at night, the old architechure is beautifully lit up, great dining, amazing little alley ways full of street vendors selling art. There was this one old lady and her husband playing guitar, she was singing "La vie en rose" by Edith Piaf, which was so spot on - we just sat there for like an hour listening to her, was amazing. Chutes were very cool too...huge waterfall, can walk across it and such...very neat little stop-over. île d'Orléans is a little island close to that and we stopped at this little mom and pop place that makes their own apple cider, duck pate, dijon mustards and stuff...was an amazing afternoon. Tadoussac was awesome for the whale watching, was a great couple of days there as well. Great food in the little port, and some very cool hiking trails and mountains that have spectacular views. like a previous poster said, Quebec isn't as far east as you can go - but there is a LOT to do. i'm from montreal so I don't really do much tourism around here, but there is plenty to do in Montreal as well. July is the jazz fest which if your a fan of music - you have to check out. We just had Stevie Wonder do a free outdoor show to open the festival. Saw the Funk Brothers in a free show a few years back too. Anyway, thats my little tourism advice :) |
also, I don't think there are as many mean people here as there are anyone else. Cities in general aren't as friendly as rural areas. I met as many arrogant people in San Francisco or Miami, Cannes, paris, Jerusalem or wherever else as I do on a daily basis in Montreal.
People in rural areas are always more friendly I find, and while I haven't visited PEI or nova scotia yet, I am told that the people there are EXCEPTIONALLY friendly and hospitable...I can't wait to head out there myself and experience that area of Canada myself :) |

Yep, the GOOD people governing the province will do ANYTHING THEY CAN, to make sure that people don't learn english or any other languages as a matter of fact. With laws and other stuff. Fuck, it is surrounded by 400 000 000 people speaking english and spanish. Now go figure... |

I loved Montreal when I was there, beautiful city in the summer. Spring however... I was there in May and it was still too chilly for me :Oh crap

I was born in Montreal (NDJ to be exact) and have spent a lot of time in Montreal as well as up the 15 like St Jerome and Sauveur. I have been all along the St Lawrence and can honestly say that generally speaking francos treat english speaking people like dog shit on the bottom of a shoe. |

My daily driver is a 2008 Mitsubishi lancer, and a 2006 bmw 325I. I don't have a problem with what I drive, and I don't really care what a guy like you thinks about it. Really. :1orglaugh |
I like those lancers :thumbsup, I have never been to Quebec.
|
Quebec is an awesome city with lots of history and lots to visit. Those Montrealers are just jealous because Montreal is looking more and more like a wasteland and Quebec is getting more and more international attention.
|
Go to the Hill Top off highway 40 in Montreal. Great place and it's a land mark!
