What do you know about Volvo?

A friend is telling me VOLVO was one of the top rated cars in the USA, supposedly a "rich mans" car.

Can anyone confirm this?

Or, is it big where you're located? Wherever it may be...

Jarmusch 07-30-2009 07:15 PM

It gets alot of vulva

rayadp05 07-30-2009 07:15 PM

I used to drive a Volvo many years back. It was actually a great car. Although, I now drive a BMW and I must admit that I am much happier driving that. :)

But yeah, Volvos are very reliable cars and they are also very safe. The one I used to drive worked great for me. Never had any probs and I drove it for a few years.

It's next to the labia and looks like a flappy ass roast beef sandwich with mustard.

MrMaxwell 07-30-2009 08:28 PM

No no no Volvo is a car alot of cheap rich people drive.
Also alot of people who think they're rich, they drive 'em.
They might be the #1 rated for safety.
They are very very serious about safety.

bronco67 07-30-2009 08:30 PM

I noticed that everyone who drives them are always in a big hurry, like they're important or something.

That proves they're not assholes.

GrouchyAdmin 07-30-2009 08:45 PM

I usually thumb my nose at them for buying the wrong Swedish car.

Supz 07-30-2009 08:47 PM

This is correct. I was a manager of a volvo dealership. To many people wanted to pay with there Black Cards. It is a car for people with old money. Who don't need to flash around in a new benz to feel special. The quality is amazing. The safety is second to none.

Volvo is great If You have a family and care about space and safety. If Not, like me, It's all BMW baby.

natkejs 07-30-2009 10:53 PM

I don't think I've ever seen a Volvo during my time in the US ... you guys saying there is a lot of them there?

In Sweden there is a shit load obviously, great cars during the winter season (all year) :)

digitaldivas 07-30-2009 11:38 PM

A 2002 or newer Benz is a rich mans car. And girls fucking love Mercedes.

JeremyB 07-31-2009 12:13 AM

In the UK, you used to have to own a flat cap and a tweed / wax jacket to be able to drive a Volvo. And a labrador. Oh, and a pony.

In certain parts of the country the signs read: "Beware oncoming Volvos in the middle of the road".

John-ACWM 07-31-2009 07:01 AM

Known as the safest car in the world.Or that was a few years back.Good cars, anyways and not very expensive.

tranza 07-31-2009 09:24 AM

They are very nice cars..

Jakke PNG 07-31-2009 09:33 AM

Volvos are nice. I'm pondering about getting the V50 1.6 diesel one that has amazing MPG. :)

96ukssob 07-31-2009 09:37 AM

their nice cars, but definetly not a "rich mans" car for sure.

their resale value is below other competitors in their field such as Acura and Lexus. they pride themselves on safety, but from what i've read, it is just slightly over what others have.

IMO, if you are looking at a volvo, id check out an Acura if you don't plan on keeping it for more than 4 years. my uncle had volvos for a while and had some pretty bad electrical problems with them and was a pain in the ass to take care of

Choopa Phil 07-31-2009 09:38 AM

the only volvo thats nice is the s60r, the only problem is that the car has a turning radius like a mack truck due to the way the engine is mounted

Jakke PNG 07-31-2009 09:40 AM

S80 is quite nice too, up to par with 5-series BMW and 6-series Audi imho.

woj 07-31-2009 10:30 AM

They seem like decent cars, but nothing really stands out about them...

brassmonkey 07-31-2009 10:32 AM

they make ugly cars well some are

WhiplashDug 07-31-2009 10:40 AM
