type in the search field "Site:yourdomain.com"

Google sends an email when a site is banned with the reasons why. It can be spamming, detected trojans on your site (we had that once when they hacked coppermine), keywords in <no frames> etcetra.

To unban you have to create a Google account, go to the webmaster tools. Verify your website and ask if they index your site again (put in a form).

anything from SE spamming to black hat tricks.

if you keep writing to them, they will tell you

The site does look pretty good too Tony, shitty about the banning.

that works in your favor if you note that with google.

If it wasn't a website, there is no need to worry yet... if it was just a parked or off-line domain there is a possibility that google wont show you anything. Just put some stuff there and link to it. It should be in google results up to one month.
