Paging File settings on a Windows OS with 4 gig Ram and 320 gig HD
Whats the "optimal" / maximum I can use or any recommendations?
I guess 4000mb minimum and maximum
Put paging files on a secondary drives too |
I use smaller page files
I don't like them to be huge |
Thanks, maxwell. Any others?
no paging file :)
turn it off... you have enough ram to not need it
I'd LOVE to run without a paging file.. but windows always just makes one
Hey Juicy, You'll never need more than 8GB of swap. Set minimum 4096 , max 8192 and you'll be in the safe zone without it growing too big.
I don't like it changing all of the time. It ends up fragmented. And that slows your system down, having a fragmented paging file! Every time it goes to the pagefile it has to look for it all over the drive.

Your page file setting should be 'go buy 4 more gigs of ram and turn it off completely'
