Shitty paysites worrying about piracy: a solution

If your paysites are not updated often - or at all - and you worry about piracy + less customers, why not do this:

1. Protect all your content from leeching, so members can only watch it online. Or at least most of it.
2. Give the customers lifetime membership.
3. Create a "ring" or "cloud" with other paysites doing the same.
4. Upsell to those other paysites of yours or others doing the same. Vice versa.
5. Pay decent PPS to affiliates.

Bandwidth will be a minor problem, because usually surfers will fap off to some few "favorites" only. Then they move on to other paysites in the "cloud".

If you run a paysite updated often, it might be too expensive. However, you can give the same lifetime to other archived websites as "bonus".

I think it will work. Why not try it? :)

I think it is much better, than just sit back and let everything go; both content and customers.

Syncing members databases between different sites from different programs/owners would be difficult, if not impossible.

But protecting your content from being downloaded will surely help with the piracy issues.

ive probably been giving access to more paysites than the average review site owner, and yes, most paysite member sections are crap.

We can do shared access pretty easily. We have a couple of different systems
for that, and a couple of variations on each system. Of course you know we can help
prevent all your content from being ripped and pirated too.

We need a technology governance model to be able to do anything like this. We don't have shit close to that.

Now that you mention it, I think it is about time that content be viewable only on the website and with a membership. I think surfers will return to sites to view content they find appealing. The idea that they cannot download the material is something surfers will adjust to. If the content hits them on a gut level they will return to the website regularly as needed.

Now I don't know. How are you going to do that?
