any good distortion pedals?
I am shopping for another distortion pedal for my guitar. I currently using the BOSS OS-2 which has a very good range of sound, however lacks a good metal sound. I am looking for a good grunge/metal pedal, my guitar is a 94 gibson epiphone modded with emg's

check out http://www.musiciansfriend.com and check out the reviews for the pedals they have there and at the same time you can see if any have what you want.

Just get Amplitube running on a laptop to take to gigs with you, you will never need another pedal as long as you live.
|
Just stay away from digitech!

If you're a fan of the boss pedals then the ME-50 is quite good, although it's all built in the metal effect is the most comprehensive one i've ever used and can be almost completely customised. Shame it's so bulky.

The best distortion pedal by far is the Japanese made Boss Ds-1 , Vai and Satch swear by it as most pro's do.
It is now Vintage as Boss is no longer made in Japan the new DS 1 sounds like ass |
I think I've tried them all.
I've done all of the Boss pedals and have a Line-6 Pod X3. But my 'go to' pedal is the Vox Satchurator. http://www.voxamps.com/pedals/satchurator/ My chain works like this: guitar out -> satchurator -> morley A/B/Y switch Morley A Channel -> Line 6 Spidervalve tube combo amp (with strymon preamp mod) Morley B Channel -> Peavey JSX Joe Satriani Tube half stack, with a Delta Lab DD1 Digital Delay in the effects chain I have my Spidervalve combo amp set for my high range, and the JSX halfstack set for my low range, and when playing thru both at the same time its absolutely killer. |
