Do you think PAYSITE COUPONS will drive traffic?

Do you think Paysite Coupons where users have to invite other surfers (preferably from forums), would take off? This does real well with hosting and domain registrations so I'm just thinking out of the box...

Possible drawbacks: adult is very private and adult is based on impulse not cost savings...

They might be just as likely to post torrent urls. So you will need a site that isn't ripped and available for free, has frequent updates or live model cam shows etc. :2 cents:

If you can do that it is worth a shot. Maybe give the referrer something free or discounted too.

tony286 08-15-2009 04:17 PM

how do you get them in the sunday paper? lol Coupons codes could work if someone has an active email newsletter. Can ccbill do coupon codes?

Twig 08-15-2009 04:20 PM

I brought this up about 2 weeks ago, and nobody had shit to say. Hopefully with Juicy at the head of the thread we can get some real thought put into this.
Just like DreamHost, let the user make his own promo codes, or give him a set of them that offer different discounts(a free month of service, 10% discount, free trial at another site, whatever) that are unique to the person.
Then anyone signing up with that promo code is instantly credited to the promo code owner.
It's a whole new way to get sales/drive traffic. Hell, some people might come across a site they never would have seen if they found the coupon on a coupon site.

Must be you either caught the seminar in Flordia, or a recording of it where they talked about giving away all your shit for free, and somehow working in that asinine concept of JDL Bucks.

This is the reason why I don't think it would work.

Twig 08-15-2009 04:59 PM

Don't think it would work, or you guys don't think it would revolutionize the industry?
It's not like it can make your sites fail. It's something that could be easily implemented and doesn't actually hurt anything.

woj 08-15-2009 05:10 PM

worth trying out, if it doesn't work, you can always disable the coupon....

ztik 08-15-2009 05:16 PM

Coupon codes increase conversions by up to 50%

Create a code form on your pages(on paysite page). Make the code drop the trial price from $2 to $.50 or something. Put the code on your sales page (before hitting the paysite).

People will go through the signup process much faster and it will make their impulses higher when arriving to the site. It also helps them skip the fine print

you guys are behind the times... no wonder your all having so much trouble

Paysites: test it, all of you owe me 50k each

fallenmuffin 08-15-2009 06:32 PM

Kickass have coupon boxes on their join pages but won't send me one. I could use it to boost sales :/

Sounds Bunkass. :2 cents:

cherrylula 08-15-2009 06:37 PM

oh hell yeah it would work.

adult might be private and based on impulse, but those porn bb users sure don't mind sharing links to free porn, so why not discount codes? viral that shit.

Move it up for the morning crew.

TheDoc 08-16-2009 06:51 AM

VoD sites have been doing it for as long as I can remember. Scratch and sniff type cards to online virtual codes. Credit card auth'ed, free memberships. <-- golden!

If you have the ability to reach a massive market for exposure, the coupon is a slick way to allow you to spam your product without pissing people off. And it's a way to reach people in mainstream business, bars, events and online.

It doesn't increase the number of sales, over simply offering a huge discount right on the join page.

It's not the coupons making more sales, it's that they allow you to bring in traffic easier and even possible.. Then making a sale at that point is nothing more than a pitch.

kristin 08-16-2009 07:23 AM

The VOD companies have been doing the coupons for the longest time. In my Yappo days we offered 30 free minutes. Non-recurring, straight up 30 minutes free, no catch.

About 2% redeemed their free minutes, great considering the average coupon gets .5% redemption.

The problem was retention.... and this wasn't just Yappo we heard this from all VODs that they just didn't retain well. So in the end after spending the money on printing, paying for the bandwidth, customer support, etc it wasn't effective enough to continue.

Twig 08-16-2009 07:50 PM

I've known VOD sites to do it, but I think it needs to be widely implemented.

Iron Fist 08-16-2009 07:52 PM

FatWallet would have to open an adult section... I can see that getting interesting.

spunky99 08-17-2009 03:41 PM

we can do custom pricing, ie. coupon linking codes, on a per affiliate basis across all of our sites or an individual site. if you are interested in setting up a promo for you traffic hit me up

stickyfingerz 08-17-2009 03:50 PM

Been working on something for this. Anyone that can offer discount membership fees, coupons, etc etc please email me at [email protected] aiming to launch by mid sept.
