Feedwordpress - Does it really "lose" affiliate urls?

The CyberSEO Suite guy posted in another thread saying FeedWordPress will sometimes LOSE your affiliate information from the url, thus making your posts useless.
Is this true? Can anyone show me real data proving this?
If so, I'll be buying the CyberSEO Suite for sure, but I can't seem to find any information except for his post.

Never had that problem and use FeedWordpress on a lot of sites. I'm not saying the guy is wrong but I'd like to hear some elaboration on his point.

fris 08-17-2009 02:12 PM

not sure, never used feedwordpress, just cyberseo and autoblogged

1) FeedWordPress is very big and slow;
2) FeedWordPress can not syndicate feeds with tube-style FLV videos correctly;
3) FeedWordPress sometimes "forget" to include your affiliate code into the affiliate URL's;
4) FeedWordPress has no built-in synonymizer;
5) FeedWordPress has no ability to alter custom post headers and footers;
6) FeedWordPress can't hide GUID's on syndicated post, so Google will blacklist your splog sooner or later;
7) FeedWordPress is unable to syndicate RSS feeds with meta content (e.g.: http://www.kinkydollars.com/rss-beta...ogram=revshare);

...should I continue?

I've gotten security problems on blogs I've used it on.

As far as losing affiliate info, you start losing position the second you start ranking high in google and affiliates start jacking your position with their own sites and their conglomerate work force so what's the difference?

Twig 08-17-2009 03:43 PM

Can you explain what security problems?

And what do you mean "start trying to jack you with their own sites and their conglomerate work force"....?

I was hacked and thus removed plug in, (but left it on sites I haven't yet been attacked on - I have lots of sites).

2nd answer - Basically sponsors don't want to pay you if they don't have to and have seo specialists to look for sites (sadly, even promoting them), that have position. Since they have a bigger crew than you, they can put out more product faster and bump you. This shouldn't be a shock

Twig 08-17-2009 04:26 PM

Ah, I see.
Well, I'm simply using FeedWordPress to pull in the feeds, then I re write the post entirely. I'ts just infinitely easier to pull in the feeds and edit them one by one, all from my site instead of going to all my sponsors to pull their content.
If I don't like the pics or vids they use in that post, I'll go to their site and pick my own.

Tjeezers 08-17-2009 04:43 PM

it did happen to me 3-5 times for sure last 2 years
Missing psid in urls, or not good fetched, some issues, and i cant show you those posts. Sponsors like this go right away in to the BIN. When they dont test the feeds on all possible readers they are not taking us so serious.

But yeah, it did happen, take my word for it. Some i found out after a week, very dissapointing to see shit like this, nothing is perfect right?

Why don't you just copy and past and rewrite (I mean really re write!) that way though? It's much safer because you are not linked through to anyone.

Tjeezers 08-17-2009 04:48 PM

the click should only go to the sponsor when they wish to buy. Let them go wild on your OWN domain, link posts to galleries you host yourself, and from there a sign up link. Much more targeted. Good thinking you rewrite your postings, shows you care for detail. I am to rough for this :(

Why let them go wild on your own domain? I don't understand that statement. You should be sending them to someone they will sign up with and not send them off somewhere where they get lost and come back around and you get no credit for sign up.

I tried it, but man. It just ruined all the feeds, or didn't grab them at all.

Twig 08-17-2009 06:19 PM

But fuck, feedWP is fucking up too. Certain posts will get overwritten when I update the feed they came from. Which basically makes it impossible to change these posts and then try to ever get new ones.
If anyone has any idea as to how to fix this I'd love to hear it.

CamTraffic 08-17-2009 06:38 PM

losing the affiliate ID ...i dont know, but i have a couple sponsors feeds that were messed up cause feedwordpress was adding spaces here and there.
