Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream

Dunno - every time i'm drunk i'm listening to this album - which is definitely one of the greatest ever in rock history. :glugglug

well, the booklet says different, but the control freak he is i can imagine that. for me it wouldn't make much difference, i have been listening to this album hundreds of times and for me it's the prototype of a rock album.

but the real question is: will you wear a see through shirt like D'Arcy??? :winkwink:

besides that: all is well, i am preparing business for US right now :)

MaDalton 08-19-2009 08:32 PM

but the worst thing is: i bought the album when it came out and now I see it's FUCKING 16 YEARS OLD

oh god, i feel old now :(

amazing album, it has "Soma" and that's enough for me, although "Cherub Rock", "Today" and "Mayonnaise" ain't too shabby. Not a big fan of "Disarm", but I gotta agree is a great song and a classic. This being said, I like "Mellon Collie...." better :thumbsup

Funny thing is as great as they were in studio, they're hideous live :Oh crap

Cherub Rock is the only song I can play all the way through on my acoustic(except the solo)

I just listened to Siamese this afternoon, for the first time in years.

I love that album. They were/are such a different band on CD and live. I have seen them twice live and both times it was terrible. The music was good, but Corgan is maybe the worst singer I have ever heard live.

I saw them during the Mellon Collie tour, and they played almost everything from that album, Cherub rock was the only thing from Siamese Dream, and NOTHING from Gish.

To top it off, Corgan did a 25 minute meandering guitar solo, when he could have played almost all of Gish.

I was pissed.

One of the shows I went to he threw a tantrum about halfway through and didn't play anything for about 5 minutes because he couldn't see his girlfriend. I don't know where she went, but apparently she moved from where he could see her from the stage and he said he couldn't go on if he couldn't see her.

Sharon Osborne has one of the best lines about him. She used to be the pumpkins manager and she left them. When asked why she said, "I am no longer managing the Smashing Pumpkins due to illness. I am sick and tired of Billy Corgan's shit."

Even though Corgan is an ass, that sound he created was made for me. That shit was MY music. I loved those low, crunchy, Sabbath-like chords.

When they started experimenting with Electronica too much, I had to jump ship.

I'm always in search of some bands that sound like early Pumpkins. HUM is a good one, but Silversun Pickups are filling the void nicely.

For sure. He is a jerk, but that he has written some amazing music over the years. Kind of like Axel Rose is a jackass, but I still love GnR.
